Ouch
Who: Aya, Mog, hospital staff, boys?
When: Four months into her work as a beat cop in New York.
What: Well, hospitals are always fun.
She blinked awake, her heart pounding and the familiar, dry chemical taste in her mouth meaning someone had stabbed her with an epi pen. There was th e screeching shrill of Mog tearing someone a new one and indeed her fuzzy friend was still clutching the empty epi pen she'd used while screaming at the nearby doctors. "I think..." she managed, fighting her dry throat, "they get it Mog."
"Ma'am? Ma'am you had a reaction to the contrast dye for the scans we needed to find that shrapnel in your side..."
She nodded, made sense, except, well, "safe list in my file..." She knew there were dyes they'd tested already! The boys were a bit paranoid and thorough. "Sent all files to area hospitals, Aya Brea..."
"We don't have a file on you ma'am. You were in processed through ER and you weren't in our system."
Oh, well, that was a problem. "No more meds, Mog dial the lab, get records..." Only so much she could handle, epi pen wise, while they tried to fix her. Yeah, the labs were in black out this week, some very high priority experiments being done with oversight from secret service, but maybe one of the Mary's could send her file to wherever this was.
Obviously they 'nearest' hospital to her injury wasn't anywhere near downtown.
More the pity. Now that she was awake, well, pain killer would be nice. Obviously she'd been out a while if Mog was here given they were on different patrol routes. Her current partner was sitting the hall and shaky, bad cup of coffee in his hands. Well then. "Happened?" she finally asked.
"Kuuuu-po! Kip kup kuukupo."
Oh, domestic went sideways. She remembered now, kind of. A trailer park, it was dark, a screaming man with a shotgun, milling neighbors who wouldn't get their asses inside and safe away from it all. Sensing the trigger pull and wrapping around a kid, trusting her jacket to keep them as safe as possible. A weird delay before the buckshot hit, an odd shimmer through her sight, then instinct that made her whimper and curl tighter around the kid as the buckshot that didn't find her hit a nearby propane tank on a gas grill.
Oh right, good time to be unconscious.
Weirdly she didn't feel as burned as she figured she should be. She'd think about that later, yes. "Kid?"
"Kip-pu!"
"Oh good," she groaned and tried to sit up, then realized that was a bad idea when the doctors rushed forward to stop her. "Water?"
The doctor shook his head, "IV only, you'll be in surgery soon."
Riiiight.
"AFTER FILE."
"Alright, we'll hold you stable as we can until then."
Mog bobbed in the air, nodding emphatically. "Kupuuu~?"
"Yeah, call Elcy and Yinsi if labs don't dial through...they'll...they'll..." oh she was going to nap again yup.
Mog dropped a few inches in worry until she remembered the monitors and saw things were steady, good. Good good. As shift ended more cops were showing up in the hallway, including the few detectives that had taken a shine to both Aya and Mog. To say they were something of mascots was an understatement really.
Plus there was always a vigil when a cop was shot.
"I don't mean to sound rushed but if we can't get her into surgery soon we may need to medivac her to a larger hospital..." the doctor noted to Mog. "Are you her medical power of attorney?"
"Ku," she shook her head, making a beeline for the nearest phone and punching it into speaker mode to dial the labs. Pick up pick up pick up..."

"Direct me." Dilan said once they were all in the OR. Braig didn't bother, he took up residence near Aya's head and stroked her hair back.

"f you do decide to go into human medical we'd be happy to have your residency here."

He finished scrubbing as well and said, "If it's possible, I'd love to see the report afterwards. I can submit a formal request if needed."
no subject
Ah. "I can leave you with the file as long as you're here, but for an official copy please, yes, submit a request as her medical power of attorney."

Said the Katzu about the Moogle.
Yes. He knew how ridiculous it was, too.
"Will do! Thank you very much, doctor."
no subject
"Oh yes of course. Thank you for your aid tonight, you have very deft hands." Best he had at the moment, he was actually starting to yawn.

He then glided towards the room in question, feeling a little like a mother duck with all the blue clad ducklings in tow behind him as a cop parade followed.

There was a scattering of boos and yays behind them? Beat wanted to keep her, but talent was talent...rookie or no!

There was already plans for banana cards and monkey balloons now.
"Tell her I'm bringing Ben by soon as she has visitors. She mentored him a bit with science at the precinct when I couldn't find a sitter." That said he firmly closed the door behind Dilan!
Aya cracked an eye open when she felt Dilan return?

Dilan reached out to smooth Aya's hair back, "Sleep, monkey. You're gonna be fine."

The nurse attending just...switched out IV bags honestly. Girl was draining them at an alarming rate, "if she isn't awake in thirty call button." For all the fun necessary functions!

Nom nom!

Then he posted Aya's head.

Aya grumbled and snuggled firmly against Braig, grumpy sleep it was!

"No problem." Dilan said, easily, "Just trying to help."

The police vigil thinned a bit over the coming hours, people drawing straws to sort out rotational visits, and by about three in the morning Aya woke ravenous per usual for her!
She was comfy though. "Ugh."
no subject
"Morning, Aya."
