Aya is that true one in a million; perhaps billion. She comes from a world where deep within humanity, Mitochondria are just biding their time before taking over their hosts. Her sister, Maya, was to be the first, but sadly, the girl died in a car accident with Aya's mother. This did not stop the biologic agenda though, no. Transplants from Maya, into Aya and a girl named Melissa led to the nightmare she had to live through. Aya, though, seems to have a full partnership with these inner cells, a complete symbiosis.

The last few weeks have been hell on earth. The first date she'd been on in a long time, well, it ended in the audience burning to death and an insane mutate deciding to rampage into the city. She's seen crowds of people melted into biologic goo, horribly changed and twisted creatures, reanimated dinosaurs, the birth of a chilling new evolution...and her long time partner burn himself up to get her ammo to save the world.

Not to mention she's had to deal with suddenly being able to toss fire around, see in the dark, heal, throw lightning...transmutate...

She's a New York City cop. She's hard, competent, good...

...and she really needs time for a break down.

Sadly, Eve had other ideas. As her horrendous child breathed it's last, the barely alive woman raged...and darkness came upon the world.

Aya can't remember that part too clearly. There were monsters far worse than those she'd already gone through, shadows everywhere, and eyes. Yellow eyes...

She fought. She'd always fight...

...but the New York girl woke up in some town not her own.
