Mar. 24th, 2015 08:30 pmAya stormed through the door and screamed in rage, kicking her school bag ahead of her because it was safe to kick. Seriously, her backpack wouldn't explode.
"Calm down!" Maya sighed, closing the door behind her sister. "We fixed it. And if you kick that bag anymore you'll have to shopping for a new one. You hate shopping."
"DON'T BE REASONABLE AT ME!"
"OKAY FINE!" Maya grumped and booted her sister's bag back at her. "So what do we do?"
"...COOKIES."
Maya nodded, toeing her shoes off before tackling her sister. "Like you could make cookies in this state!"
"COULD TOO!"
It was a sibling thing okay?

Mar. 11th, 2015 11:18 pmWho: Aya and Eve
When: Some time after Eve turns eleven.
What: Just a normal day as Klamp's semi-daughters. Honest.
Aya counted to a hundred under her breath then did it again in Japanese and Latin just to be sure she wasn't jumping the gun here but, well, "look, I know you're new here in the gym, coach, but get your hands off my sister. She can do her own sensor pads." She didn't miss a beat on the treadmill, Klamp was a big believer in 'sound mind, sound body' and exceptional children should have even more exceptional bodies and such. What that really meant was they both had heavy exercise routines, and stopping now would just make all her daily exercises take longer. The new creepy guy was getting on her nerves something fierce though, and that was not alright.
And hey, better she say something now than let the coach try to get pads under her sister's shirt and have Eve bite the guy. Biting never ended well. "This is tech equipment Ms. Brea!" The coach sniffed, "I can't allow you two to decide how they're used!"
"That machine's been here longer than you have and it just monitors vitals. We've been applying our own pads for years now. Besides, you didn't offer to do mine did you? You just want to get your hands on my sister." Creeper.
Eve, good kid that she was, had stepped away while she distracted the coach and was applying her own sensor stickers. Good girl. "I'm not sure what you're intimating there Ms. Brea..."
"Intimating nothing. I'm stating that you should leave now and never interrupt our exercise time again because you like little girls."
"Why I ought..." The coach flushed red and darted a glance toward Eve, angry enough to lift a fist in the older girl's direction.
"Ought to what?" Aya asked mildly, keying the treadmill a notch higher on the incline.
"Teach you that it's bad manners to say such nasty things."
"Then don't do them." Idly she wondered what Klamp had been thinking hiring this guy when he was very obviously unsuited to working at a kid's school. Then again, this coach hadn't handled the actual classes, which meant he could have been brought in as a 'test'. Klamp also believed that a bit of adversity could hone thinking skills.
Sometimes she didn't like their guardian in the least.
"Now listen here, I was brought in to make sure you are physically capable young ladies and that means I can't have you undermining me. We're shifting your schedule, sparring after the treadmill, you'll show me what you know."
And by the sounds of him he was hoping to wipe the floor with her to teach her her place. Yeah, this was a test. "Of course sir." She nodded to her sister as she climbed on to the treadmill beside hers, grinning. "Yeah yeah, I should have let you bite him. Bet I can still get him out by dinner time." After all, defeated tests didn't stick around and she'd really like their old gym teacher back from vacation. "And besides, you got to beat the crap out of the last person thrown at us, it's my turn." Fair was fair.
All in all it was shaping up to be a rather normal Wednesday. Should she tell Klamp his tests were getting predictable?
Nah. He'd catch on eventually.

AU Notes - Family Ties
Mar. 11th, 2015 11:04 pmRun with - Ty Ty!
AU Premise:
~Only Maya died in the car crash
~Jerrig and Mariko have another child, Eve, after the accident giving 5-6 year age difference between the living sisters.
~Mariko has a fragile mental state after losing a child and then sliding into postpartum depression, allowing the rising influence of mitichondria in her own cells lead to the equivalent of a psychotic break.
~To care for his wife and protect the girls Jerrig accepts a scholarship offered to the two, causing the girls to live in a boarding school for gifted children in New York.
~Boarding school run by Hans Klamp was initially an attempt to discover and foster psychic ability in gifted children but the quiet display of cellular ability causes Klamp to become far more focused on biologic rather than mental ability.
~Jerrig is killed in a suspicious accident. This is the last straw for Mariko's fragile mental state and she disappears for quite some time. The girls are declared wards of Hans Klamp.
~Under Klamp they are treated well and not pushed to the point of breaking but it is still a high pressure environment and 'progress' is limited with only minor abilities showing in the girls.
~Aya decides to go into the police academy to use what little ability she has to help people and to make enough to get custody of her sister properly.
~Klamp finds Mariko and convinces her that Maya can live again if Mariko is on hand to strengthen the cells that are transplanted into a singer, Melissa.
~New York event - All hell breaks loose and girls have powers trigger stronger than expected la?

Out of Sight, Out of Mind.
Dec. 16th, 2014 07:30 pmLike police work, warehouse work was full of long, boring car rides followed by stretches of intense adrenaline and terror. For example, the ride up here had taken hours. She didn't care for the sheer isolation, it was a bad place for a bad artifact to end up but at least she could trust her partners?
After a year now at the Warehouse, well, she damn well better be able to trust her partners. Granted it had been a year of ups and downs, it had taken her a while to settle in an accept her new job by now? She loved it, honestly. It was challenging, unique, and the people were amazing. It made trundling up toward a spot even Elcy had considered a missile strike for a bit less unnerving?
And hell Dilan thrived on forests as far as she could tell.
They didn't have any prep work for this, no real clue what could be up here except that people had been disappearing, even a full rescue team. Current theory was a serial killer in the area so the call to the FBI for help had redirected to them naturally. Calls did that when the Warehouse was curious, she couldn't really trace how but better some things came to them, right?
Still, something that could take out trained tactical units? That was bad.
"The Ghost Call Radio is still in deep storage," Aya noted, sitting sideways in her seat so she could talk to both men. "We're pretty sure the Carnivale Masks are still at the bottom of the ocean...so what can a little mountain resort get their hands on that disappears people?" she mused.
And what kind of disappearing was it? She was starting to get a feel for how to suss out artifacts, there was that at least? "Old, probably. Probably older than someone can associate a name with else it'd have flagged in our system sooner?" she hazarded.
So how did a place get their hands on a nameless antique? Or better how had said antique not triggered in other locations?
"...two piece?" Perhaps? Something that needed both to activate?
This was going to be fun.
"Why did Elcy call a missile strike? Does she have a limited number of those per year or something?" she chuckled, tucking her knees up to her chin in the seat as she watched the woods roll by. Yeah, she'd bet Elcy had missile tickets, it seemed like she would.

As far as pit stops went, well, this one wasn't on any tourist maps. The air was tinny and thin, probably some leaky seals that needed to be seen to before the whole station spun into unusable for humans. There were three things here they needed; a bonded courier that could deliver samples of the drugs they'd confiscated to their trusted labs back home, a refueling pit even though they charged through the nose, and a bar.
Not that they, personally, needed a bar? But it was a great place to sit next to her uncle and lay her head on his shoulder! Nevada had stopped being surprised by her appearing randomly, and like any other woman who leaned on a man on a bar, well, she got a warm, comforting arm around her waist. "You are not supposed to be here," he noted easily.
"Exactly where I need to be," she countered. Or rather where it felt safest, recently? Yes, they'd originally thought they'd be way out in the Adrian Sector but...no. Here they were. Or here she was, Braig was fueling their ship and Dilan was running to the mail...
...they'd both hunt her down soon enough though!
Some days she thought she somehow got her ability from Nevada because her uncle followed her thought pattern easily, "I'll have to beat the boys off with a stick if you leave with me."
"Been a while since you did that," she laughed.
"Well, yes, and I'm thinking Dilan at least would get the stick away from me quicker than he used to..." Nevada mused. "Come on, have a drink with me and everyone can come find us here." Better to have everyone together before they talked about important things after all.
"Nah, my money is on Braig. He missed out on a fight so he's been itching for something..."
"If he starts a bar fight I reserve the right to toss a bottle at him."
"Naturally, it's what you do." She waved the tender over to order and placed a delayed order for the boys, something to strip paint for Braig and a fruit juice for Dilan, a light one.
"Granted, if Braig sees your dad first he might be able to get Jerrig a better price on fuel. So many years and he still negotiates like a tourist." A sad, sad thing really.
"He lost the coin toss didn't he?"
"Not at all. I got to corner the contact."
"Poor contact," Aya grinned.
"She's in one piece," Nevada snorted. "And I might need to corner others later. If Braig can contain himself until then."
Oh, now that was worth pathing to her partners, yes, ::Nevada says please don't start a bar fight he might need muscle later though.:: "You drive a hard bargain with my boys."
"I have to," he pointed out, "they're still earning my niece after all."
"In your eyes."
"Well, yes, but my opinion is a valid one."
