mitochondriaaya: (College Aya)
[personal profile] mitochondriaaya
Who: Aya, Mog, Pierce, Ben
When: Some time after the first date or two with Braig and Dilan.
What: Cooking, relaxing, and some ribbing.

"HOPE YOU'RE DECENT!" Pierce yelled as he came in the door. He lived, literally. across the hall. He and Aya had realized that living across the hall from each other was amazing way early in college and had kept up the habit since. Given they'd moved to New York at the same time, and joined the precinct at the same time, it only made sense to buy apartments when the building went up for sale, at the same time!

It also meant they'd had each other's keys for years now.

"/Never!/" Mog laughed from her loft area above, peering down at the top of Pierce's head at the door. "/You're up early!/"

"Aya said if I wasn't early enough to vote on the cooking today I only got leftovers and vegetable dishes!" he pouted, holding up the carafe of coffee. "So I just didn't sleep!"

"Dork," Aya snorted, coming up the hall from the small office-cum-weight room with a towel over her shoulders. Coffee was a decent peace offering though! "You beat out Ben, he's due any minute though so good timing."

Pierce grinned, coming all the way in and flopping on the boulder beanbags in the livingroom, "oh I finally managed to beat out a nine year old! Gold start for me!"

Mog floated down from her space and laughed, stealing the small espresso cup from the carafe, "/one of these days you may manage an adult schedule!/"

"Hey! I'm never late to work!" Pierece snorted, peering over his sunglasses at Mog. "I'm wounded! Besides, we all know Ben runs our lives these days. I swear he lives for cooking and schedules and stuff..."

"No," Aya chuckled, "he lives to learn, and knock out all the responsible stuff so tomorrow we can go do things. He has priorities, but he still has fun." She adored her partner's kid okay?

"Oh, fun, I've heard of that," Pierce grinned. "What's on the docket for tomorrow?"

"Natural History Museum!" Aya grinned. "And Danny is kidnapping you and Mog for beer and pool I heard." Because Danny needed adult time sometimes! He always had their first day off to himself as long as he showed for final dinner with everyone, but Lorraine was being a bitch recently so he needed to unwind more than usual, and best Aya wasn't there for the bitching. She tended to just say things like 'well we CAN get her barred from Ben entirely' but that made both Danny and Ben sad so...

"Oooo beer and poooool," Pierce grinned. "I like my end of the deal here! Tomorrow, tomorrow...I have an early tournament, but Hong Kong time, should be free in the evening. Hey, are we it for cooking and lounging today?"

Aya blinked, pausing as she pulled down cookbooks in the kitchen, "huh?"

"/Did you invite the boys?/" Mog laughed.

"I...mentioned it but they are very busy?" she admitted quietly. "I';m still feeling this thing out okay?"

"Awwww, I was hoping to snag Braig for the tournament, we had one of our players end up in the hospital," Pierce grumped. "I mean, they're okay, which is good, but a ringer sniper would be awesome."

Aya settled the books on the counter before sighing, "Pierce? You have their number."

"More fun to talk him into it at an informal hangout!" her friend grinned. "I mean, I'm still 'officially' freaked out by the kidnapping and stuffed in a limo thing' so I can't reach out myself you know?"

"/Why?/"

"It's a guy code thing Mog," Pierce snorted.

"So glad you use my sudden dating life to edge around machismo issues," Aya snorted.

"/To the be fair your boys are way up there on the macho scale,/" Mog hummed with the trace of a leer. "/I mean, I'd date them if they were interested.../"

"Hey, hey, I don't think I can handle the moogle wants the guys too thing!" Pierce laughed. "Mog, you're hot as hell, a badass who can out-drink any moogle out there, do you really need to add the premier scientists of the land to your dating resume?"

"/My mother,/" Mog smirked, "/would faint./"

At least that got everyone laughing? Yes. "That...would almost be worth it Mog, I admit," Pierce snickered. "I told you she cornered me right? Since I'm always in your house she made it very clear you had far better prospects than some police techie who wouldn't know how to make a moogle happy..."

"/NO! She said that?!/"

"I think she growls at every male who isn't up to her standards," Aya chuckled.

"And the big one is 'moogle, can give me grandbobbles'" Pierce was going to die laughing at this point yes. Granted, at the time, it had been incredibly surreal but! "She hit me with her purse when I admitted you let me touch your forge..."

The moogle sounds of annoyed rage were funny? Yes.

"Oh man who pissed you off Mog?" Ben laughed, swinging in the door.

"/MY MOTHER!/"

"Oh yeah I get that," Ben grinned, slipping his shoes off and bopping to the kitchen. "Did you eat breakfast yet? I learned how to make an omelet!"

"Omelets are awesome," Pierce grinned. "I'm going to let Mog shoot some people in game for a bit to handle that flappy rage okay?"

"Good plan! Then we'll make a meal plan after breakfast!"

Aya chuckled and passed Ben a bowl and pulled open the fridge to fetch eggs, "given we kinda scraped things clean last week, I say we send the peanut gallery out to shop once we know what we need."

Ben shifted his step stool to the counter and grinned, "I'll need cheese, bacon, and mushrooms too Aya!" Since she was at the fridge! "And cool, that gives us a chance to do stuff without them right? Like translate that next chunk of your mom's diary!"

"Told you, way too adult for his age," Pierce snorted, passing Mog her modified gaming controller. "But sure, give me a list kitchen masters!"

Mog laughed again, punching them into the game, "/without those masters you'd starve to death Pierce!/"

"Hey, I can operate a phone and have most fast food places memorized!" he sniffed. "And Ramen. I'm awesome at Ramen."

"American Ramen," Aya snorted, throwing a balled napkin at her friend's head. "You'd die in under a year without us."

"I could write an obituary!" Ben offered with a laugh.

"You're nine, obits are not suppose to be in your world view yet!" Pierce laughed. "But sure, what would you say about me?"

"Awesome gamer, starved to death because he was bad at adulting!" Ben listed promptly, grating cheese.

"Hey! I HOLD A JOB! And my mom would laugh so much at that obit, really, and adopt you. You don't want that!"

"Why not?" Ben asked, looking over the counter.

Pierce took a moment to consider that, "your dad would never see you again, nor would Aya, and you'd learn EVERYTHING about tech. Everything, and it's not your thing dude. Really. So that's all kind of bad, she'd take you to like Shangha to avoid man hunts in America, and you'd be a mini-me when you were let loose on your own! You're an awesome Ben, but you'd be a crap Pierce 2.0!"

"Hey, that's a bad thing to say about your mom..." Ben pointed out.

"My mom is awesome," Pierce assured, "She is. Just protective and she has ideas about the world, and laws, and stuff. She'd think you were awesome because you are and if she lost me she'd probably not be very sane for a while? Just better you feed me and not let me die!"

Ben considered that a moment then nodded, "I guess I can do that. I mean, I have help right? Aya and Mog don't want you dead either!"

"Lucky me!" Pierce laughed.

"/He just sucks at some aspects of adult!/" Mog offered.

"Yeahhhhh. Didi your mom not cook?"

Pierce shot a wounded look at Mog then sighed, "she followed box directions very well but power bars and stuff is so much easier you know?"

"Ew."

"That's the correct response," Aya snickered. "Ask him why he went to my college instead of MIT or CalTech..."

"Hey! I distance learned from them!" Pierce laughed. "Just wanted...normal college thing too you know? A normal place with normal people..."

"Aya isn't normal!"

"I know, but hey I'm allowed stupid ideas when I was young okay? Younger anyway!"

"Getting to meet Aya isn't stupid," Ben opined, glaring a moment.

"I CAN'T WIN TODAY!" Pierce sighed. " I can't. Aya is awesome, Mog is awesome. You're the next generation of awesome..."

"Just make sure you remember that!" Ben laughed, flipping an omelet.

"Yes sir!" Pierce saluted then winced, "Mog...I'm on your team, no sniping me..."

"/You were behind the guy that ducked!/"

"Elements I hope the boys show up I, can't take you into tournament after that," Pierce huffed.

"They've got...a lot of other things to handle Pierce," Aya sighed.

"So? you're more awesome." Ben added stoutly.

Ayay chuckled and stole the next omelet for herself, "It's complicated Ben, I'm sorry."

Ben flopped another, then a smaller one on a plate for Mog and sighed, "It's always complicated when people date or love each other," he huffed. "Always. So they've got a lot of others, so what? You're better."

Ayay chuckled ruefully and passed him a notepad, "hush kid, I'm just a cop. Make a list of things you want to make."

"Yeah yeah, I'm gonna talk to them if I ever get to meet them," he huffed, pouting at her.

"Ben...I love you," Aya chuckled. "just be you okay?"

"Yeah yeah."
