Aya stormed through the door and screamed in rage, kicking her school bag ahead of her because it was safe to kick. Seriously, her backpack wouldn't explode.

"Calm down!" Maya sighed, closing the door behind her sister. "We fixed it. And if you kick that bag anymore you'll have to shopping for a new one. You hate shopping."

"DON'T BE REASONABLE AT ME!"

"OKAY FINE!" Maya grumped and booted her sister's bag back at her. "So what do we do?"

"...COOKIES."

Maya nodded, toeing her shoes off before tackling her sister. "Like you could make cookies in this state!"

"COULD TOO!"

It was a sibling thing okay?

Dilan peeked out of his room at the shouting and screaming, then waited for things to get at least a bit quieter, "Um. Can I...help?" If not he was going to disappear back into his room and wait for Braig to get home.

Maya had Aya in a headlock, and said held girl was licking her sister's arm, but that meant at least a bit of quiet for discussions.

Where discussions could be called down a hallway anyway. "Maybe. I don't know. She gets her head on straight with a proper idea instead of wanting to go shoot people and yes probably?"

"I don't want to shoot them! Waste of bullets. And they might live."

"Not if you shot them right!"

"Med students."

"Oh right. Tweaked. You done sliming my arm?" There was another brief tussle before Maya ended up sighing and sitting on her sister. Aya promptly dragged her bookbag closer and pulled out a notebook to start jotting down thoughts in.

"Okay, think it's safe!"

"Should I make cookies?" he asked, tilting his head like a baffled cat, "I can do that."

[mitochondriaaya]

"YES!" was the answering chorus, though they'd learned to modulate for the sensitive hearing in the house.

"And a spoonful of peanut butter? It'll make a good temporary gag until her temper burns out!" Maya requested, only to get kicked in the back for her troubles. "Maybe that first?"

"Witch. I'm working on saving lives here!"

"Also a good reason for a spoonful of brain food!"

"Okay." Dilan nodded and inched around the two girls into the kitchen. He returned briefly with the peanut butter and snacks that could be eaten with peanut butter (bread, bananas, and celery mostly) before ducking back into the kitchen to make cookies. Out of habit he started three batches; Aya's favourite, Maya's favourite, and Braig's favourite. Pierce's favourite was ooo, cookies.

There was another brief tussle as Maya got a spoonful of peanut butter stuffed down her sister's throat, but then things settled out a little. "Just out of curiosity Dilan, what's your impression of the other med students? Did you ever let yourself get treated on campus?"

"With my unique genetics?" he said, leaning out of the kitchen to stare at them again, "No ma'am, I avoid them like a gene coded retro-virus." Then he went back to cooking, "

"Did he just ma'am me?" Maya blinked.

"Yes, he did ma'am."

Maya grimaced and elbowed her sister before standing to go poke her nose in the kitchen, "you're years older than me, Dilan. Ma'am is creepy."

"Still a good answer though. Every day I like my fellow students less and less," Aya called past her twin.

"Sorry!" he said, laughing a little, "I heard someone say that, so I thought I'd try it out. See if it's something that I might use to sound less weird. Guess it backfired." he felt safe trying things out with the twins. They never held back on their feelings about his ventures into sounding like a normal-ish person.

"Still, no, I don't let any medics I don't know really well get anywhere near me. So that pretty much excludes everyone but the two of you."

"Ma'am usually applies to ladies older than you with some kind of authority," Aya offered from the livingroom.

"Whiiiich I'm not," Maya finished simply.

"Still, for the best, just means you cant give me much info on the other med students or why, when have material at hand, they wouldn't care about type matching." Ah, the heart of what made Aya angry today.

"Solution?"

"Mad science, naturally. I'm working on it."

"I can help with mad science." he said, very firmly, "I can do that. I'm good at mad science. Cookies are in the oven."

"Problem I'm seeing being we'll need an oxygenated substrate that is species neutral as a blood replacement without it costing millions to produce. Ideally it could be employed in the company and maybe even most general hospitals that see a species mix?" Aya noted, finally sitting up and looking down at her notes. "I have idea on one. Cost effective? Not so much. Also shelf life. That'll be something..."

"Oh, you were serious about the mad science cure," Maya noted a touch blankly for a moment.

"An Olia got stuck full of human A+, Maya. That's more than criminal negligence and I bet it happens in a lot of other places."

"Oh..." Dilan pondered that for a moment, then started to drift out of the kitchen, face firmly stuck in SCIENCE!!!!! mode, "Species neutral oxygenated substrate...cost effective for the company...shelf life...what's the idea? Maybe something plant based..."

"YOu run into allergen issues with plant bases," Aya admitted, looking waaaaaay up at Dilan since she was on the floor. "I was thinking some of that fun silica gel, we'd need it less viscous but it doesn't hold Oxygen too tightly and can be removed from the blood stream without harm with a single enzyme injection..." she mused. Maybe not plausible but hey, it was some place to start?

Maya looked between the two then sighed "I guess I'm watching the cookies this round."

"Hmmm." Dilan nodded, slowly, "It's sort of..." he ran down into science there, sometimes checking with Aya or Maya about medical things, "can get students to test one..."

Aya was grinning by the time he hid mid way, taking her own notes, because half the time she had to say 'No, that won't work in ever system, just two out of three...' but it was May that interrupted with "Cookies. Also both of you sit down and take a break for a moment. Focus on the ability to produce cheaply and preserve in aid kits for our guys!"

"I have a student in mind..."

May bopped her sister with the cookie tray.

He absently reached out, grabbed a cookie, took a bite, and then spit it across the room (away from the notes) "...I forgot I hate these." he said sheepisly.

He was nibbling before Maya could stop him, and then both girls were wincing, "you forget the oddest things Dilan. Stay put, I'll go get you some baby carrots or something!"

"Cookie!" Aya noted, holding up her hand for the poor snack that had been mauled with no cause. "And at least we have a barometer for how deeply you're engaged in something?"

"Are you taking notes on Dilan now?" Maya called from the kitchen.

"Why not? He's important."

"Thank you, Maya." Dilan said wryly, "This is interesting." he liked interesting things. A lot. This would be fun! "I like working with you. Both of you." that was to Aya.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Hey, it's that or run get you a toothbrush," Maya laughed from the kitchen. Carrots were closer? By a little bit!

"I don't like assuming you'll fix things," Aya admitted sheepishly. "I don't want to just assume you can help with everything because you live with us so thank you for this."

He blinked at Aya, "But I like science." was the baffled reminder. He liked messing around with things.

Aya sat up properly and reached to take Dilan's hand, bemused, "Dilan? I know you like science. I know you're good at it. Your friends don't like feeling they'll take advantage of that like for their own ends okay? Like when The ponies took advantage of Rarity's ability to design clothes and didn't think about her feelings? We don't want to do that. I want you to know you're making a big difference potentially and I appreciate it."

"Oh." he said, giving her a sweet, sweet smile, "Thank you, Aya. I like that you care about me that much." he was still going to science the hell out of this problem. Sience it to DEATH. Or life. As long as it did something he'd be happy.

Dear elements they had to get this man in to the company. She didn't want to think about what kind of hell Braig would go through dealing with the other kinds of people who'd want to snag a scientist like Dilan. Granted, then she was snarking at herself, mentally, for trying to list 'kidnapping Dilan' as 'for his and Braig's well being' instead of pure selfishness but hey, that wasn't the important factor right now. And she'd probably been holding his hand too long while she spaced out on that self snarking huh?

"You're welcome, Dilan. And thanks for letting us care okay? But we're going to work really hard to make sure we never take advantage okay? I know that means you'll look at us funny a lot but bear with us okay?"

"You're my friends. I trust you, so I'll try not to give you funny looks." it was simple, and easy, and very, very Dilan. Braig would absolutely agree that the company having his lover was a better idea than anyone else, ever.
