"'kay" they took her for more x-rays in a few hours, since the swelling had gone down some by then. The uniform paced the bed and took up guarding the X-ray doors as a matter of course. Obviously the initial X-rays had been botched. No surgery necessary.
A brace, ice and heat in the next week at least, pain killers, and staying down were prescribed for that. The concussion was worrying still, but time and diligence would take care of it, same for the tightly wrapped ribs, as long as she refrained from being hit again.
Amazingly, the doctor was willing to release her, despite initial estimates of a prolonged stay...
