What: Religious studies get a touch out of hand.

Life at Kaos U was never boring, no, far from. Their pop quizzes were 'something blew up in X hall' more than anything else. Today was Robotics over in the Farley building. Tat had an extra bit of urgency because they knew someone over there.

Thankfully Pierce was alright, angry that the idiot in the class had caused an explosion, and burned but alive. He knew to come to them instead of any of the other med students, which was best. Everyone had their pet projects after all...

...and who knew how Dilan's modifications would handle some of those pet projects?

Still Pierce got his bandages and sucker just to be amusing. He didn't think anything else of it until he was sitting down at dinner, blinking, "where are the girls?" That was a valid question, right?

The explosion had been before lunch, they should have been home by now certainly? Unless they'd planned library time (slots for that could be just as cutthroat). "They're not on call tonight, right?" at the college clinic?

"Got it." Braig went down to Dilan's lab to grab the kit and take the samples while Dilan finished getting the stew started.

"Don't do that." Dilan's voice was amused, he actually got the joke for once, "You both have beautiful eyes and hair."

"We'd never do it on purpose!" Maya assured, amused. "Ever, you'd be so sad and that would be devastating!"

"I would be." he agreed, "I wouldn't want to try regrowing your eyes, even, because I'd worry about your idiosyncratic reaction to things."

"We'll try not to lose eyes ever because that would just get creepy for everyone." From losing an eye, to eyes in jars in Dilan's labs and yes! "So no jelly limbed sample taking is a household rule!"

"I'll add it to the list." Dilan agreed. Because of course he had the house rules in a list. In a binder, colour-coded as made sense to the mad biologist.

"Yay more rules," Maya giggled softly. "We're making a positive influence on the world!" Or something. Histamine reactions could lead to silliness!

"I like rules." Dilan said simply. They made the world easier to understand. Especially don't do this rules. He knew he had issues with not-doing-things.

"We know!" Maya admitted. "Just glad we can help!" Granted, she wasn't sure what would make Dilan go jelly jointed but hey!

Even rules that might not be needed were good for Dilan! "You're very helpful. Did you call Nevada yet?"

"Right, right, calling," she sighed. "He's going to yell. Not AT us, but there will be yelling." And probably angry mercenaries visiting soon after?

"Of course he is." Dilan agreed, "That's why Braig and I don't want to be the ones to call him."

"Gee thanks," she stuck her tongue out at him and then went back to dialing.

And yes, there was yelling as soon as Nevada pegged the slurred words and Aya coughing in the background!

"This'll take a while," Aya wheezed. "I'll text gear needs, saves time."

Dilan's smile turned wicked and he winked one sinfully purple eye before putting the stew together and taking the kit from Braig so they could get things done. He had no shame in his unwillingness to be yelled at by Nevada.

Braig settled down to wait for the yelling to end and be ready to answer any questions Nevada might have that the girls couldn't answer.

Wicked smile that yes. Aya caught it and...yeah, she'd be remembering that!

"Braig? Report," Nevada barked as Maya set the phone on speaker.

Braig summed up the encounters with the cult, although it was less than military. Sue him, he was a scientist not a mercenary.

"...So we killed all the ones who weren't, according to the girls, also kidnapped and forced into things. Dilan kept the option to kill those ones later, however, if needed. There may be a handful left but we'll be hunting them down. Probably before the girls are fully recovered, but what that means is so not my field."

Dilan added in, cheerfully, "I memorised all of the ones we let go. Killing them will be easy if we need to."

"Theology should have killed itself out decades ago on that campus," Nevada was down to growling instead of yelling at least? "We're coming. Girls you're on lockdown without gear, no in and out privileges."

"S'kay, gonna sleep," Maya admitted. "And analyze."

"We'll lock up tight once Pierce and Sheeva get back." Braig said once the girls had given their assents. "We've got enough food for a month or so. No need for anyone to go anywhere."

"...I have to feed my test subjects, Braig." Dilan argued, "I'll have to leave. I can wait at school until it's okay to come back, though."

"You three may go about your lives as needed, the girls go nowhere without gear, simple as that." And he trusted the home defenses there.

"Mandatory down time," Maya grumped. "We'll contact the teachers for take home work."

"As long as you're okay with that, we will." Braig said with some relief. The guys had Things To Do, but piss off a mercenary crew was not one of them.

"I'll bring it back for you." Dilan said softly, "Nobody will mess with it."

"Yes, the girls still have weapons they don't carry daily there as well as the security systems, they don't need people to sit on them, do they?"

"No sir!" both girls chirped obediently.

"I wouldn't sit on them." Dilan said, wounded, "That would break their bones."

"It's an expression, dude." then, to the others, "Not one that we used at home because he's Katzu."

"And very literal." Dilan admitted.

"Point, I would not ask you to, Braig or Pierce though, yes, literally at need. Sometimes they're stubborn. Like everyone else I know." He wasn't joking?

"Nevada!" Maya growled.

Braig just laughed, and shook his head, "Yeah, but we'd refuse." he informed Nevada, "They're med students and know where we sleep."

"They're med students secondary, firstly they are members of my company and understand if I tell people to sit on them there will be consequences if they strike out at such." Severe consequences.

"Yeah yeah Nevada we know."

"Yup, staying out of that conversation." Braig decided out loud. Dilan nodded and headed to start testing out the samples that he got so that he could check on them.
