A Doctor and her Nurse(maid)

Two women paced down the hall as the lights were being dimmed to evening setting. The only difference between the two was their chosen dress. The woman on the right was in a cheerful, spring green nurses outfit and heels. The woman on the left was in slacks and a sweater with a lab coat and sneakers to finish the ensemble. "Maya, I told you I wasn't going to see Mrs. Caryin again." the doctor sighed.

"Aya, just once more. Her husband wants to talk to you, that's all!" The nurse waved a file, and when Aya didn't take it she smacked the thick pages off her sister's shoulder.

"There's. Nothing. Wrong. With. Her." Aya bit off each word in anger and pushed open the next set of doors with a little more force than necessary. "No botched healing, no disease or cancer that magic can't touch. Nothing. She needs a psychologist, not a specialist!"

Maya sighed and gave up on the file, tucking it back into the bunch in her arms. "Well, once more and I won't let them schedule again. You know that the Caryin's are heavy supporters of the hospital. We have to be nice." she thought that one over then tweaked her sister's hair "Well, I have to be nice. You just have to be professional." Maya amended.

"...keep it short." that was Aya giving in to the inevitable. "And I won't bite him."

"Good, we get yelled at if you bite people." Maya hit the next door a fraction before her sister, bumping it with her hip so she didn't have to drop the files. "Now, we're going for food!"

"Hmmm, I pull a shift tonight..." Aya nodded to the corridor she'd been planning to take.

"An insane, volunteer shift with the emergency center where you just do basic stuff! And that's in an hour, at least! Foooood." Maya laughed and dragged her sister in the opposite direction. "C'mon, there's a place just down the block that's still open! Then I'll go home and you can go nuts, I promise!"

"Fine, fine..." Aya was actually a lot more cheerful about the prospect of food than she let on, but hey, it was fun.

And to give Maya credit, the place didn't look that bad from the outside. It probably had a bar side, but the restaurant side was still open...

"Good." amused, "Mind, I don't mind if you call me Dilan."

"Well, your reputation wouldn't suffer for the familiarity." Aya pointed out reasonably. "Young doctors need all the back up they can get."

Maya bumped her sister and very pointedly stared for a moment.

"Oh. Yeah, and sorry for thinking you were the tech guy." Aya added with a grin.

"I have a doctorate in computer technology as well as one in biology." Dilan says with a grin, "So I am also the tech guy."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Hmmm, well, that explains that." Aya grinned more "I'm less sorry now."

Maya gave an exaggerated sigh and mock glared at the pair of them "You're not helping." Maya informed Dilan, then poked her sister "And you, you'll have to keep people straight someday you know!"

"Ms. Brea, if she can't identify me it's a lost cause. I'm the only one of my species on this continent, and the only one of my species with blue eyes."

[mitochondriaaya]

Aya tilted her head, listening to the byplay, then shrugged. "I remember the important parts. He redid the entire hospital operating systems after that last hack. We haven't had any trouble since." Aya shrugged. "I'll remember the blue eyes now though, they are nice. Just hard to see when you're under a desk fiddling."

"And his name?" Maya prompted teasingly.

"Dr. Dilan" Aya offered patiently.

"Thank you." Dilan says with bemusement at the compliment, "The two of you have lovely eyes as well."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Hmmm?" Aya noted, turning to look at Maya's eyes. "Well, yours are a nicer blue Dilan, but hers are stunning in green. I'll give us passable eyes tonight. Thanks though." she hadn't really realized she'd been complimenting, but why not?

Maya, well, she was just going to blink and giggle for a moment.

Dilan looks taken aback for a moment, then laughs and shakes his head.

Well, it wasn't often Aya managed to make anyone besides Maya laugh. She'd take it as a compliment? And patiently wait out the laughter of course.

Maya got a hold of herself after a moment and tweaked her sister's hair. "You're right, he wins in the blue department." then there was a loud, annoying beep that made Maya wince. "Oh fire!"

Aya lifted her arm and pulled back her sleeve to look at the...large mens watch on her wrist "Hmmm, fifteen minute warning."

"EAT SOMETHING!"

Dilan frowns a little, "Look, I dragged the two of you away from your menus, let me pick up the bill since you're going to have to eat and run anyway."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Our curiosity dragged us." Aya pointed out with a shrug "And I did order before joining you two." she added almost defensively.

"Well, there's that at least..." Maya sighed, then grinned up at Dilan. "Sure. We'll owe you."

"No problem." Dilan assures both of them with a fussy, polite bow before heading back to his party.

The girls dipped in unison, bowing being the polite thing to do and something they'd been drilled in since they could walk. Then there was the general dash for the table and food before running out the door.
