Unwinding

Aya's office door was shut. In hospital terms that meant 'don't disturb'. In the Brea's terms it meant 'time to relax'. It'd been a good week actually. They'd finished early and there was a little bit of time before Aya had to report for her volunteer weekend shifts. "Any plans sister-mine?" Aya asked over her shoulder as she walked over to the discreet stereo on one of her bookshelves.

"For the weekend?" Maya asked, thinking it over "...no. I'm tired of tennis." she admitted. "Maybe some house cleaning? Or, hey, gardening! There's that one vine I'm sure I can get to curl along our railing. It's big enough to start anyway..."

Aya nodded, clicking the volume on the music up until it was just loud enough to be heard. She liked to sway along to soft music, it was relaxing! "And the Irises are ready to be thinned...maybe spread them to two new beds? And sprinkle some wild flowers around them?" she suggested, wiggling out of her coat and hangng it up while dancing.

Maya eyed her sister and then fished a bottle of nail polish out of her purse. They relaxed in different ways! "Irises are all you dear, they don't like me. And that little tree..."

"The Bonsai? What's wrong with it?" Aya blinked, worried for a moment.

"Nothing except the morning glories want to eat it! Move it back here! You need more plants in here!" Maya waved the bottle of polish for emphasis, then nodded to the slim window in the back of office "It'll get enough light now right?"

"Hmmm, I could do that..." Aya admitted, thinking it over. "It's a lot stronger than it was when we got it, so translocation might not bother it."

"Sweetie, I'm pretty sure being dropped three stories won't hurt it at this point. It'sa a tough little thing...except when it comes to my vines."

"Fine, fine..." Aya laughed "I'll bring it in with me tomorrow alright?"

"Good girl." Maya smirked and put her foot up on Aya's desk to do her toes.

Taking that as a signal, Aya turned the music up a bit more.

The guys look at each other and shrug, then look back at the women, "Not until we find a woman or women interested in starting a family with us." says Dilan.

"Like, lots of people see rings as a sign that anything else would be temporary." Braig adds, "As if. We want our potential kids to have a stable family."

Maya preemptively reached out to cover her sister's mouth before she could point out other options. She didn't want a voice of reason spoiling such a wonderful opportunity! Not that the boys seemed like they'd change their mind but...her sister could be unintentionally persuasive. "That's actually incredibly well thought out."

Aya, for her part, was biting her sister's hand. She hadn't intended to say anything bad! She was suddenly more than a little angry, so biting was entirely justified!

"Anyway," Dilan says, waving one hand vaguely, "if we get married it'll be us and the potential mother or mothers of our kids at the same time."

"Good playyyeeeep!" Maya snatched her hand away from Aya and glared. "Ahem. Good plan. Big wedding, but good plan none the less." she was just going to wiggle her fingers ruefully now...

"I approve. It sounds like a good life." Aya mumbled quietly. See, nothing wrong with what she'd intended to say right? Right.

"Thank you." Dilan says sincerely "We think so as well."

Braig offers Maya a napkin to dry her fingers off.

Maya accepted the napkin with as much grace as she could given the circumstances. Maybe she'd deserved it...still, biting. "Anyway...I don't know if I can come up with anything for a Friday night. Would a Saturday afternoon work? Aya will have plenty of time before her shift then!"

And Aya, well, she was just going to concentrate on eating now. Yep.

"Sure." the guys say, "Just let us know a couple days in advance."

"Next Saturday." Maya offered promptly. "About three. I'll find something for us to do." there'd be a follow up call with that info!

"Picnic" Aya offered, looking up from her food. "Medallion park has volleyball, canoeing, and probably some kinda team game?"

Dilan ceases his wholesale attack on the food in order to add that to his PDA. Which makes Braig's beep softly as the date is shifted from one to the next. "Works for us." he says simply.

Then returns to the serious business of feeding his frame.

"Barring emergencies." Maya agreed, carefully snitching pieces of meat from the rapidly diminishing tray.

"Knock on wood." Aya sighed, doing just that on the table as her pager went off.

"You didn't..." Maya groaned. "Where are you hiding that damn thing?"

"Garter" she shifted just enough to pull her pager out. "Well, we could get the emergencies out of the way this week instead...I have to run..."

Both men stand, with a sigh. Then Braig sits back down, "Kiss me before you go, Dilan." he demands, and Dilan gives him a quick peck on the lips before saying; "Don't stay out too late, Braig." and moving to most likely catch up with Aya.

"One of these days I'm going to hide all her phones and such from her..." Maya sighed once they were alone. "Sorry about that. Dilan didn't have to leave you know."

In fact...Aya might tell him to go back and eat.

"He's got experiments. I'll get remnants packed up if we're done before he is, otherwise he'll be back." Braig says calmly, "This is not the first time one of us has run off."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Fair enough then." Maya grinned "Well, they left you at my mercy...be afraid?" or something like that.

Braig leers, "You'll have to do a lot worse to make me afraid of you."

[mitochondriaaya]

Maya tilted her head back and laughed at that. "Good to know that I'm not as immediately terrifying as some people say." she joked. "So, what kind of experiments have we been abandoned for?"

"Auto-immune and hearts." he says softly, "And Dilan knows the most about the first, and the second isn't open for the public."

[mitochondriaaya]

She fiddled with her food a minute, swirling her chopsticks in the fondue rather than taking out her meat. "I don't need to know details." she admitted at last. "I just like to know where people are running off to. What about you, Braig? What experiments are going to pull you away sometime?"

"Still can't talk about most of that, but I'm also doing work in teleportation..."

[mitochondriaaya]

"That's just fine." she grinned. "Do you two ever work together on non-secret stuff? I can't imagine your specialties cross much...but I've been wrong before!."

"Sometimes, yeah. Metaphysics and biology cross a lot."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Well, I'm wrong then." she laughed. "So sometimes we'll lose you both to science. Or, if it's a really bad night I'll lose all three..."

"If it's not confidential we can smuggle you in and feed you hot cocoa." Braig offers with a leer, "Dilan makes a mean cup of cocoa for a guy who hates sugar."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Hmmm late night labs, smuggling...how could a girl say no to such adventure?" she said it teasingly because labs weren't really her thing...but she'd put up with a lot to keep people company. "Probably because he likes people who adore sugar? Adaptation in the name of affection?"

"Pretty much." Braig grins, "If you ever want to really make his day, offer to trade strawberries for chocolates. He keeps chocolate on his desk for grad students."
