Oh those lovely lawsuits

Aya reached out to slap her alarm clock and pulled the covers over her head. She really didn't want to get out of bed today. The very idea of going into the courtroom scared her. Yes, she'd have to get over that eventually, but suing...suing just gave her the creeps. It felt like things were out of hand. Out of control.

She hated that feeling.

That meant she wanted to stay in bed. Sadly, she could smell coffee. And the snooze button wasn't where it was suppose to be...in fact, her alarm wasn't where it was suppose to be. "The hell?" she muttered from within the blankets.

He laughs, deep and joyful laughter that just...rings. "Good afternoon!" he sings out to the front desk, "We'd like to place a to-go order."

Aya had to flop down backward on Dilan's back in order to avoid the emergency exit sign, but after a few false starts she managed to sit back up and grin at the hostess. "Fried noodles and an order of spice beef for me, every other appetizer and shrimp noodles for Braig?"

"Yup." Dilan agrees, "And three lemon-cilantro chicken for me."

What? He's huge!

Any guy who carried in a girl, even a little girl, and had yet to put her down wasn't going to get any guff about a large order. Nope. He could have what he liked, he'd earned it. "You're so getting a sucrose headache today." Aya grinned and patted the to[p of his head.

"Am not." he says, grinning, "I like this place 'cause they don't add any of that crap to the lemon-cilantro chicken."

"Indeed we don't!" the clerk says proudly, "No need to, it's a family recipe since before our country knew about sugar cane."

"Well, okay, but you're headed for a fructose crash too." she teased. "It's really good to know though, I'll remember that." she beamed at the clerk and at least her smile wasn't a little kids!

"Totally planning on a fructose crash." Dilan agrees happily, "And you two nuts are going to have a sucrose crash."

The clerk beamed back and then went to get their order started.

A five year old girl is staring at Aya with jealousy. Her brother never does that for her.

"Tomorrow is going to suck." Aya agreed cheerfully "Headaches and sleeping on odd positions all around!" then she noticed the little girl and poked Dilan's chin in the proper direction

Dilan smiles down at the little girl and kneels because, face it, he likes kids. "Hey, there. I'm Dilan, and this is my baby sister Ayay."

"Ay-a" she corrected with a light slap to the back of Dilan's head. She didn't mind the nickname but introductions should be done properly! She almost added the 'I'm an albino' line but she didn't want to confuse the kid! "He's got another shoulder if you want to sit!" because she could totally offer it!

"If your mom says it's okay." Dilan says, instantly, smiling up at the mother, "I'm Dilan, one of Ansem's apprentices. This is Aya Brea, my adopted little sister."

The mother looks the two of them up and down, then nods. Dilan is good at setting people at ease when he wants to.

"Up and at 'em...?"

"Kelly!"

"Up and at 'em, Kelly! Grab my dreadlocks like Ayay is, okay?"

"She says it's Aya!"

"Welcome aboard Kelly. If you tug a little he turns!" Aya grinned again and offered a handful of dreads as the girl half-clambered up. "It really is Aya, he just likes my nickname."

Dilan grins, "Hang on tight, I'm standing up, okay? And I've had Aya since she was six. Back then she had these giant blue eyes and surprised little face, and she reminded me of an Ayeaye. So it's been Ayay for ten years."

Aya snaked an arm around Dilan's head and around Kelly's waist as an additional safety measure as he stood, then let go. "He thinks I look like lemur." she sighed in a classic little sister tone. "Do you still have that magazine picture in your wallet Dilan?"

"Yup!" He reaches slowly and pulls his wallet out, passing it up to Aya. "Got the Ayeaye near a picture of baby Aya, the black lemur next to a picture of Braig, the yawning Fossa Braig found to put next to his own, and family pictures.

"Okay, our other brother looks exactly like that lemur." Aya admitted. It was why they snipped that particular picture "But my hair is never that bad." she grinned.

"And Dilan totally has that many teeth."

"She's lying, I've seen her at the end of finals week. But I totally do have that many teeth." he agrees, "And I get 'em sharpened every three months, like clockwork." and he glances at Kelly's mom, "Carnivore."

"I know." she smiles, "I did six months of specialized nursing school down South."

"...Do you have a card? It's hard to get medical up here..."

Yeah, Aya and Kelly are gonna have to talk on their own for a bit.

"Don't listen to him, I'm asleep after finals week." Aya grinned and took the wallet back so she could shuffle through it "And this is Dilan's cat, Cat. Yeah, he named her Cat. He's not so good with names sometimes..." she babbled easily. Aya liked kids too, so talking to them was easy!

"It looks like we're going to see more of you since your mom's a nurse!"

"But before you pass out your hair looks like that." Dilan breaks away, contently. He gets the mother's card, and sets Kelly down, when their table is ready. The little girl hugs his leg before bouncing off happily.

"That was nice." he says with a smile for Aya.

Aya waved goodbye amidst the girl's giggling laughter then flopped fondly against Dilan's head "Yeah...kids are always nice. You know Aunt Elsy is going to start bugging you guys about grandkids soon right?"

"Kids are usually nice." Dilan corrects, "And mom can bug as much as she want, I'm only eighteen!"

"But you're of age with lots of girlfriends! You're doomed." she countered knowingly. "I have a few more years of freedom. She was starting to make baby noises before I started at the college here."

"I am not discussing my sex life in public." Dilan says mildly, "Oh, look, it's our food."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Who said anything about that?!" she sqwuaked, nearly falling off his shoulder "I was just giving you warning!" ah, yes, food! That was the important part! Yep!

"You are!" Dilan says, "I don't need a warning! I need to not talk about having kids!"
