Scary Movies

Who: Baby Aya, Dilan, and Braig
When: Not long after Aya is officially moved into the house.
What: Horror is different for everyone really.

Aya hugged her moogle tight to her chest and glared up at the boys like they'd personally offended her. To be fair, they had. It been a great idea honestly, Elcy and Yinsi were going to be out late at a 'societal function' and left Braig in charge (with Mrs. Tass bext door checking in on them every few hours). It was the perfect opportunity for a classic friend night full of snacks and scary movies!

She'd..kinda wanted that honestly. A bit of televised 'normal' to nail down the anxious feeling she'd had since being relocated away from her dad. Not that she knew to put that in words mind you, but she'd been so excited. Elcy had helped her make pizza dough and she'd helped layer toppings (because now she was too little for knives even if she used to use them) so they had some pizzas to bake up, Dilan had been baking snacks, and here they were at just past weekday bedtime and well..."it's not too scary," she insisted stubbornly. "I watch all kinds of stuff." Especially when her dad hadn't been home, having the TV on all the time was almost like having someone else home so of course she'd seen all kinds of stuff.

Even the creepy shake weight guy. If she could stare at his spandex wrapped body for hours then psycho killers had no chance!

Honest.

"Aliens are just fun, and the blood isn't real or anything so it's not like I'll be scarred for life!" She wasn't sure exactly what that meant but she'd heard the term on news broadcasts honestly, and scarred for life was apparently what happened when things were too scary or dangerous.

Not that she thought Braig was going to be swayed by that fact, he was a stubborn smart guy. Dilan was more likely to take her word and see if it was good, Braig though had ideas about what was normal! Plus he was kind of the babysitter tonight which made him even more stubborn as far as she could tell.

"Plus I have a blanket see?" she grumped, waving to the soft material draped over her head like a slipping ghost costume, "if I DO get scared I just gotta cover my head!" Simple! Classic protection method and utterly dependable!

Her logic here was flawless and they were allowed to stay up late tonight so why not?!

And, added benefit: moogle. Her moogle was the best defense against EVERYTHING.

Maybe she could smack Braig with her moogle if he kept being weird? The thoughtful look down at the bobble was...pretty obvious.

Dilan snickered a little at the jump, mostly to keep from biting someone in his own instinctive move at the scare, and then said, "Enjoy the movie, monkey. That's what we'd do. We can talk about it after."

She blushed at the snickering, burying her face in her moogle to hide it. Fine, whatever! "Bet we can make a better one," she muttered.

"Not at our current level of filmmaking." Braig said, absently, as he watched the film.

...wait. They could make movies?

JUMP SCARES SHOULDN'T WORK WHEN SHE WAS STARING AT BRAIG. Stupid reactions. Bah.

"Later." the Olia grumped.

[mitochondriaaya]

SHE HADN'T EVEN SAID ANYTHING THAT TIME!

Obviously babysitting gave people psychic powers.

Braig ruffled her hair and shushed her.

At the end of the movie Dilan said, "OKay, Aya, now we can talk about it."

Psychic! "They were all stupid," but the monster was good at creeping around?

"Well, yeah, but the idiot ball is definitely a regular thing in movies." Dilan agreed.

[mitochondriaaya]

She flopped sideways into Dilan, moonless still pinning Braig's legs. "So I would still go in the vents!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Well, yeah." he agreed, "Although when you're older you couldn't. Vents aren't usually that big."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yeah, I know but I'm not big yet." And they were talking right now! "...all of us could probably fight in those vents, it'd just be hard to science in there."

"Not Dilan. He's too heavy." Braig pointed out, "He's heavier than both of us put together."

Dilan just looked proud.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Okay, so we secure a lab, booby trap door!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"How?" Dilan asked, because getting Aya to think through her plans was a hobby of his.

[mitochondriaaya]

"It didn't like the cold?" She mused, drumming her fingers on Braig's thigh. ""Fire extinguisher tied to the door?"

"What if a person needs to get in?"

[mitochondriaaya]

"Watching in the vent," she nodded. "I can signal if it's a person!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"That only works while you're little." Braig pointed out, "Are you only planning for being little?"

[mitochondriaaya]

Well if it was us now," she blinked. "And you two are smart, so I wouldn't grow much before you had it figured out."

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah, but we like you to think ahead too." Braig said mildly, "It's a good thing to do, to try to think about the future."

[mitochondriaaya]

"But I probably wouldn't be allowed to be there at all if I was an adult," she pointed out. "Only special classified people get to go, but that one scientist got to have his kids there." And the boys would obviously make it in as scientists, no problem!
