Unwinding

Aya's office door was shut. In hospital terms that meant 'don't disturb'. In the Brea's terms it meant 'time to relax'. It'd been a good week actually. They'd finished early and there was a little bit of time before Aya had to report for her volunteer weekend shifts. "Any plans sister-mine?" Aya asked over her shoulder as she walked over to the discreet stereo on one of her bookshelves.

"For the weekend?" Maya asked, thinking it over "...no. I'm tired of tennis." she admitted. "Maybe some house cleaning? Or, hey, gardening! There's that one vine I'm sure I can get to curl along our railing. It's big enough to start anyway..."

Aya nodded, clicking the volume on the music up until it was just loud enough to be heard. She liked to sway along to soft music, it was relaxing! "And the Irises are ready to be thinned...maybe spread them to two new beds? And sprinkle some wild flowers around them?" she suggested, wiggling out of her coat and hangng it up while dancing.

Maya eyed her sister and then fished a bottle of nail polish out of her purse. They relaxed in different ways! "Irises are all you dear, they don't like me. And that little tree..."

"The Bonsai? What's wrong with it?" Aya blinked, worried for a moment.

"Nothing except the morning glories want to eat it! Move it back here! You need more plants in here!" Maya waved the bottle of polish for emphasis, then nodded to the slim window in the back of office "It'll get enough light now right?"

"Hmmm, I could do that..." Aya admitted, thinking it over. "It's a lot stronger than it was when we got it, so translocation might not bother it."

"Sweetie, I'm pretty sure being dropped three stories won't hurt it at this point. It'sa a tough little thing...except when it comes to my vines."

"Fine, fine..." Aya laughed "I'll bring it in with me tomorrow alright?"

"Good girl." Maya smirked and put her foot up on Aya's desk to do her toes.

Taking that as a signal, Aya turned the music up a bit more.

"It is quite alright." Braig says cheerfully, "I fully understand. Dilan occasionally does the same thing."

"I do not." Dilan interjects, "You're getting us mixed up again."

"Am I? Ooops." Non-repentant.

"I can see how you'd get each other confused." Maya straightened finally and took a sip of water. "And for the record I do not 'snap'. I take mental health moments."

"Often. And with giggling." Aya added.

"Of course, of course." the guys grin at the girls, happily. "Drinks. Coffee, black, for me." Dilan says, "Sugar for me." is Braig.

"Black coffee!" Aya would cheerfully jump on that.

"Crazy, crazy people who don't want to sleep tonight." Maya laughed and wrinkled her nose at the table in general. "Tea. Lemon-ginger please."

"You get mad at me when I sleep at the office too often! So, caffeine!"

"You'd drink it anyway." Maya groused.

Dilan shrugs, "I have to check on experiments all night."

"It's my turn to sleep." Braig says, "But I don't get much out of caffeine, personally. Have to go for galleons before it'll do anything for me."

"Wait...it's a beautiful Friday night and yet we have...plans for a work shift..." she pointed at Aya.

"Plans for experiments..." Dilan.

"And sleep?" Braig. "Well...you can tell we're successful adults." Maya sighed.

Braig grins at Maya, "Well, if you prefer we can ditch them and go dancing after supper. Or let Dilan tag along until he has to go check on things."

"I'd rather let the two of you have some fun and go out as a foursome." Dilan says casually, "And if you'd rather other things happen next Friday, Maya, make plans for the four of us."

"Eh, dancing is Aya's thing. I'm to twitchy tonight to handle those crowds...but I could handle karaoke?" Maya counter offered with a grin. Stages allowed for distance from people! "...I'll have to think of something short but fun for a quartet. Speaking of plans..." she prodded her sister.

Aya blinked, she'd gotten very quiet as her twin planned, not wanting to spoil things. "Oh, Braig? Sorry I didn't call. I kinda washed your card...you still up for breakfast?"

"Karaoke is good, but only if Dilan doesn't sing."

"I'm lousy." Dilan agrees.

Braig perks up and beams, "Yes! Tomorrow?"

"But bad singing is half the fun!" Maya laughed "But he doesn't want to come with tonight anyway so you're safe." for now.

Aya hesitated, thinking over schedule "I don't kn..."

"She means yes." Maya butted in.

"...as long as there's coffee?" Aya finished quietly.

"Not when it causes other people to cover their ears and cry." Dilan insists, "I can only sing when drunk."

"He's telling the truth." Braig says, and then grins at Aya, "It can be a breakfast served when you wake up again. I don't mind breakfast foods at other times of the day."

"Well, drinking and singing is even better so I'm not really seeing the problem..." Maya teased. "And think of all the nervous singers you inspire!"

"It'd be about a three o'clock breakfast or so?" Aya offered. As much as Braig might be used to it, she didn't want to fall asleep on him!

"But I can't drink when I have to work." Dilan says, laughing and leaning back in his chair as the food comes.

"Three o'clock works for me." Braig says simply, "Gives me plenty of time to sleep after your sister wears me out singing."

"Yeah yeah yeah..." Maya leaned back in her seat and flapped a hand at Dilan. "You get a temporary stay of execution? And Braig, if it makes you feel any better I can have you home before you turn into a pumpkin."

"Where would you like to meet?"

Dilan just grins at Maya, eyeing his meat and eyeing the pot. He's obviously wondering if he can get away with eating the meat raw.

It's so good raw.

Braig considers for a bit, "Do you know Temple of Eggs? It's a pancake joint."

Maya followed hi gaze for a few moments before shrugging and sliding the tray that inch closer to him in invitation. Then of course she stole a bit of beef with her chopsticks.

"That place with the odd arches above the door? I can get there..." Aya mused and snagged her own bit to start cooking.

"Note to the wise, keep her off those things. Climbing arches is not a good idea!" Maya offered with a grin.

"Hey, I haven't climbed those!"

"No, you haven't. it'd be a challenge..." her sister laughed.

Dilan cheerfully snags a piece and eats it. Raw. Mmmmm.

"Carnivore." says Braig tolerantly.

"You love me."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you like climbing things, Aya, I know where some great rock-climbing walls are locally."

Maya watched the byplay intently and smiled. She liked the possibilities in this. It was really just a matter of seeing if they all clicked now...

"Where's the fun in climbing things you're suppose to climb?" Aya asked, smiling down at her chopsticks. "Used to drive my parents nuts..."

"Where by nuts we mean we weren't allowed on some of the photo tours anymore." Maya laughed.

"Okay, in that case I can totally show you a path up the back of the labs."

"Braig! You're really not supposed to do that any more!" Scandalized Dilan is resigned.

"Any more?" Aya asked, lifting that grin towards the rest of the table "How often were you caught?"

"No. It's bad enough that she goes up on the hospital roofs. She doesn't need more official people annoyed at her!" Maya dropped her chopsticks so she could reach over and cover Aya's ears. just in case.

"Ahh...finger in my eye! Maya, finger!"

"Twice." Braig says.

"Three times." says Dilan with a sigh. Then he eats more raw meat.


Sooooo goooood.

Since her sister was kind enough to remove the eye poking finger, Aya settled in for wrapping her meat in the rice wrappers and cheeses provided with the tray. "I'm going to assume they gave me a number Maya. I'd love to go climbing sometime Braig. We can even keep it legal..." lab, closed buildings, interesting trees in the park...

"No labs. No hospital roofs. No aqueducts." this was said to Braig since she was still covering Aya's ears.

"We'll figure something out." Braig says cheerfully, then prods Dilan, "Dude. Cook it."

Dilan siiiiiiiiighs, "Yes, Braig."

"Alright." Maya finally dropped her hands from her sister's ears "No public fines."

Aya chuckled and nodded "Yes ma'am. Hey...it isn't unhealthy for him to eat raw meat right?" she asked curiously, eying the boys across the table.

"It's polite, Aya."

"I plan on kissing him." Braig says, "And I don't like the taste of blood."

"He's finicky like that." Dilan has no shame. None.
