Unwinding

Aya's office door was shut. In hospital terms that meant 'don't disturb'. In the Brea's terms it meant 'time to relax'. It'd been a good week actually. They'd finished early and there was a little bit of time before Aya had to report for her volunteer weekend shifts. "Any plans sister-mine?" Aya asked over her shoulder as she walked over to the discreet stereo on one of her bookshelves.

"For the weekend?" Maya asked, thinking it over "...no. I'm tired of tennis." she admitted. "Maybe some house cleaning? Or, hey, gardening! There's that one vine I'm sure I can get to curl along our railing. It's big enough to start anyway..."

Aya nodded, clicking the volume on the music up until it was just loud enough to be heard. She liked to sway along to soft music, it was relaxing! "And the Irises are ready to be thinned...maybe spread them to two new beds? And sprinkle some wild flowers around them?" she suggested, wiggling out of her coat and hangng it up while dancing.

Maya eyed her sister and then fished a bottle of nail polish out of her purse. They relaxed in different ways! "Irises are all you dear, they don't like me. And that little tree..."

"The Bonsai? What's wrong with it?" Aya blinked, worried for a moment.

"Nothing except the morning glories want to eat it! Move it back here! You need more plants in here!" Maya waved the bottle of polish for emphasis, then nodded to the slim window in the back of office "It'll get enough light now right?"

"Hmmm, I could do that..." Aya admitted, thinking it over. "It's a lot stronger than it was when we got it, so translocation might not bother it."

"Sweetie, I'm pretty sure being dropped three stories won't hurt it at this point. It'sa a tough little thing...except when it comes to my vines."

"Fine, fine..." Aya laughed "I'll bring it in with me tomorrow alright?"

"Good girl." Maya smirked and put her foot up on Aya's desk to do her toes.

Taking that as a signal, Aya turned the music up a bit more.

She hadn't caught it earlier, but now Maya was just a bit more than startled by Dilan's easy identification. It wasn't a bad thing, just really, really weird. Especially given how long they'd known each other for. "Almost. One of you look in the closet for a little black jewelry box? I thought I looked there but maybe it got shoved back on the shelf..." she might as well get their help while she puzzled over Dilan?

"Dilan, Braig." Aya greeted back, finish with her shoes and testing the fit by wiggling her leg. "Mostly? I seem to have a dawdling sister..."

"No problem." Dilan says as he moves easily aside and looks for the box, coming out with it eventually and handing it over with a simplicity that makes it seem perfectly ordinary. No flourishes, no teasing. They're not there yet.

Braig takes up position where he won't accidentally bump either woman. "No problem, we have plenty of time before supper."

"Thanks" Maya grinned and took the box, careful to not touch his fingers. They weren't there yet. "Let me guess, it was behind those journals Aya crammed in there?" Ah, there were her earrings. It was her turn to wear jewelry for those who couldn't tell them apart.

"Well then, have seat?" Aya offered from her section of the small couch in her office. "Maya still has to get her heels on too..."

"They don't take that long, do they?" Dilan asks curiously, "They never have when I've worn them."

He settles out of the way next to Braig.

"Oh ha ha." Maya shot her sister a look as she slipped the last earring in. "No, they don't. They're strapping but it doesn't take that long."

Aya grinned then glanced down at Dilan's feet "Um, I guess it depends on what kind if heels you were getting into?" she offered. "And...why?" The mental picture was hard to reconcile with the man sitting in her office. it really was.

Dilan shrugs, "I was four eleven until I was fifteen and according to this idiot and our girlfriends? Cute. I'm comfortable in drag."

Somehow that was even harder to picture than the heels. Really. Aya was just going to blink for a few minutes.

Maya, on the other hand, laughed. "Oh, cute, we know the hatred of that word. I bet you're damn hot in drag now. And I bet Braig would be adorable too."

"Photographic evidence?" Braig offers, holding his wallet out for Aya, "I'm the tall one. And Maya, babe, I do not wear drag. Or heels."

Dilan mock whispers, "He falls over in heels. And I am."

Aya reached across Dilan to snag the picture, then studied it for a while. "It's...still really hard to believe. I know about the growth spurts? But I didn't imagine they were so drastic..." maybe, in a few years, so could go down to the southern continent to study medicine for a while. Her studies were seriously lacking!

"Awww" Maya sashayed from behind the desk to smile at Braig "Well, it was a hot idea. I'll just keep my imaginings to myself hmmm? Anyway, how do I look?" she was ready to go! And people made far better mirrors.

"Only in my species. Fourteen inches in two weeks, give or take an inch. Four eleven to about six two." He's tiny, and dark, and afro'ed, and adorable.

Braig looks her over cheerfully, lingering a little on hips and shoulders (really, shoulders), "Hot enough to burn." he pronounces them.

"You were both very attractive young men." Aya carefully avoided the word 'cute' though it certainly applied. "I'm glad it carried over." she passed the picture back.

Maya posed for a moment longer then grinndd "Well, that will do for a dinner I guess. Come on sister mind..." she helped pull her twin to her feet, then wrapped her arm around Aya's waist. "And what ever you were thinking a moment ago...no Aya." she whispered in her sister's ear.

Braig and Dilan casually hold hands as they head out towards the restaurant, and equally casually manage to avoid all accidental contact without making a physical block towards being touched.

The place they chose is out of the way, but not really out of the way. One of those little treasures that you have to know about in order to find, and even then you might miss it if you're not quick on your feet. They're led upstairs, and out onto a balcony. There are about ten tables up there, and only three of them (four counting this group) are filled.

"It's not a wall," Dilan says, "But I thought you might forgive us." they're next to the edge, a two foot tall metal fence is there but they can see across the street into the park without obstruction. The boys wait for the ladies to take their seats before taking whatever is left.

Even in heels the girls managed to wall in sync gracefully. They practiced...and they did use the boys as a wall upon occasion when the streets got a touch too crowded.

"Oh...this is nice." Aya breathed, leaning on the rail a moment for the exact same reason the boys were hanging back. "Maya, we've never been here right?"

Maya shook her head."No, it looks a little like Pris but this is nicer." she took her seat, the closest to the rail and farthest from the chance of accidental contact. And Aya casually blocking her in one side.

The boys easily slide into the other, Dilan on Aya's side because it's easier for Braig's shorter legs to stay out of the way.

"Everything here is aged for a full twenty four hours before it's offered up." Dilan says quietly, "So there is no salad whatsoever that should upset either of you. I can vouch for the steak tar tar and - most of the meat dishes, if we're honest."

"Not the noodles though." Braig butts in, "They're usually over cooked."

"Protein." Maya poked her sister before opening the menu. "We'll saue salads for next time we're out though..." when it was just her. Her sister was overly sensitive to veggies and fruits, so better not to risk it.

"Yes mother." Aya laughed, then poked Dilan across from her. "How about their fried noodles? Are those any better?"

"Eh." Dilan wiggles his hand, "Not as good as I make, but passable."

"Dilan makes awesome noodles."

"And the man cooks..." Maya murmured to Aya. "Why didn't we do the running into them thing sooner?"

Aya blinked at her sister and went for the honest answer "We were all busy. Hey, if we do the fondue we can all cook our meat to taste?"

"Hopeless" Maya rolled her eyes at her sister and grinned "So Dilan does noodles. Do you cook to Braig?"

"Fondue is just a dipping sauce." Dilan says, "But I bet we can get them to bring out differently done meats for everyone."

"Only barbecue. I never bothered to learn how to cook." Braig says without shame, "Dilan does all of it for both of us. I do dishes and windows."

"No, see?" Aya turned the mdnu around and pointed "Viet style fondue has hot water, spices, and some oils instead of a sauce. It cooks things..." though there was chocolate fondue in the desserts. That was intriguing too!

"Windows? That is a great substitute for cooking! I have to poke Aya with a broom to get her to do those..." Maya grinned and...plotted. She liked this pair. "Aya, we can only do that if you don't drop a chopstick in again. I'm not doing the fishing thing again!"

"Tha was you Maya."

"Either way, it sounds like fun." Dilan says calmly, smiling at the women, "Lets give it a try."

"Babe, I don't do windows until a third date, at least."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Not asking you to, it just gives me more ammo to prod Aya with." Maya laughed. "But Braig does them..." she teased.

"Haha" Aya snipped."Yes, it's fun...and I'm not adopting Braig as a role model!"

"Hey, I'm a great role model!" Braig protests, "I'm smart, funny, and good in bed."

"Modest, however, he is not." Dilan agrees with a sigh, smacking the other man's head gently.

"Perhaps but are trained as a role model? Can I see a resume? With so much of my future behavior riding on the choice I need a quality garuntee." Aya sat up straight and eyed Braig expectantly.

Maya...staaaared. Then fell into giggles.

Braig pretends to fish around in his sleeves, then sighs dramatically, "I'll have to drop one off later, babe. I seem to have left 'em behind."

Dilan whops him again, just as gently.

"I can't promise that the opening will remain for long. I'm bound to come to my senses soon, but if you provide a full contact page with your resume I can promise to keep on file and notify you of other positions..." It was very hard to keep a straight face when your twin was cracking up beside you to the point of needing your shoulder as a brace.

She tried though.
