Oh those lovely lawsuits

Aya reached out to slap her alarm clock and pulled the covers over her head. She really didn't want to get out of bed today. The very idea of going into the courtroom scared her. Yes, she'd have to get over that eventually, but suing...suing just gave her the creeps. It felt like things were out of hand. Out of control.

She hated that feeling.

That meant she wanted to stay in bed. Sadly, she could smell coffee. And the snooze button wasn't where it was suppose to be...in fact, her alarm wasn't where it was suppose to be. "The hell?" she muttered from within the blankets.

Braig places one hand on the divider and vaults over it so that he can hug her. She needs it, he needs it.

YES SHE NEEDED IT! The girl they'd sued was getting nastier still in a courtroom, her accusations flying from lewd to horrid as she seethed. Hugging Braig meant she didn't do anything regrettable...

...and neither did he.

"Ice cream." she informed him simply.

"Yeah, babe." He says, cuddling her protectively. Dilan's expression got darker, and darker, and after a moment he says in that clear, deep voice of his, "I bet I have a pretty good case for libel right now. Slander. Whichever."

And some DAMN FINE witnesses, too.

"Slander" both Aya and the lawyer said at the same time. There was a shocked silence in the courtroom, then the girl's friend started very hurriedly ushering her out the door.

"Bastard wouldn't dare" was the parting shot...and at that Aya practically lunged at Dilan, just in case.

There is this moment in horror films where the person who has seemed like a perfectly sane, perfectly normal part of the protagonist's party suddenly turns prior to lunging strangling someone.

Dilan? Is doing that slow turn, and the application of an Aya and a Braig trying to hold him back doesn't affect it much at all.

He reaches out to pick Aya's lawyer up under each armpit and hold him in the girl's general direction, stating in a calm, clear voice;

"Sue her."

It was one thing to know, logically, that Dilan could pick her up. Really, he did it all the time in play. It was kind of a hard application of reality to realize how much more he could pick up when motivated.

At least no one was bleeding in the courtroom.

It never occurred to Aya to just let go of Dilan's arm, she just kinda...dangled. "I think she's going to need to get a job." that was the first thing that popped into her head, honest!

"Y-yes sir." the lawyer says, carefully, "You need to put me down, now. So I can start the paperwork."

The other lawyer, after a good, long look at Dilan, informs the girl that she needs a new lawyer.

Ansem starts patting Dilan's shoulder, trying to get him to set everyone down. Gently.

After a minute he does.

Aya thought it was perfectly reasonable to keep hugging Dilan's arm after her feet touched ground. "We're going to...wait a bit. Let them get away from the building before we head out." she wasn't speaking to the boys but to all those who were there to support them.

Braig, upon reaching the ground, takes the calm and considered step of kicking the back of Dilan's knees so that he sits down. Then he rests the big man's head against his shoulder and pets his hair soothingly. The rest of their little group divides between calming Dilan down and glaring at the girl.

Once he was sitting, Aya sat in Dilan's lap and started quietly babbling about the gym she'd found and decided to join near the campus. Gyms were a safe topic!

The bailiff was working on forcibly removing the enraged girl before things got even worse.

Dilan rests his head against Braig's shoulder and sighs into Aya's hair. That was more angry than he lets himself get. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

[mitochondriaaya]

"So...moogle?" she asked quietly when she ran out of gym babble. She'd only toured the place once so, it didn't take too long. "I'm...really glad you were here?"

"Moogle. I'm glad I'm here. Frozen strawberries."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Frozen strawberries, ice cream, and movies tonight." upping the ante on comfort activities! "Think it's safe to leave yet?" that last question was addressed to everyone.

The bailiff goes and checks, then hurries back, "They're gone, but would you like me to get your car here?"

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yes!" Aya chorused along with about half the remaining group.

Braig tosses him the keys and mentions to Aya, "Betcha she's going to get pregnant and drop out due to grades."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Strung out boyfriend gets her addicted and she drops." Aya countered, not feeling bad in the least for wishing that upon the girl. "She'd be a terrible mom."

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah, that too." Braig agrees. When the car is brought around the big man stands up again and wraps his arm around Aya's shoulders.

[mitochondriaaya]

Aya reached up and wrapped her hands around Dilan's wrists, half hug, half leash as she headed them towards the doors. "We're going for frozen fruit and ice cream if anyone wants to come?" she offered to the room at large.

"Me, obviously." said their driver with a smile, but the rest of them shook heads and went separate ways.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Thank you all." Aya freed one hand to wave at people as they departed. "Should you get some real food before strawberries?" she asked Dilan seriously as they piled in.

"Yes." he agrees, "But we can order that in at home." anywhere one of them lives is home. Always will be.

[mitochondriaaya]

"That works for me." Aya strapped in and poked Braig "Works for you too I hope? Creamery parlor is right next to that video place we joined." and they had frozen fruit, so that was their best bet.

"Awesome." Braig said, "You get me something decadent, I'll rent the movies."

Dilan smiles at them and slowly starts coming out of his funk. "Will do."
