Oh those lovely lawsuits

Aya reached out to slap her alarm clock and pulled the covers over her head. She really didn't want to get out of bed today. The very idea of going into the courtroom scared her. Yes, she'd have to get over that eventually, but suing...suing just gave her the creeps. It felt like things were out of hand. Out of control.

She hated that feeling.

That meant she wanted to stay in bed. Sadly, she could smell coffee. And the snooze button wasn't where it was suppose to be...in fact, her alarm wasn't where it was suppose to be. "The hell?" she muttered from within the blankets.

"...Yes." he's doubtful she's going to eat lunch.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Muffin monger." as name calling went it fell a little flat, but she picked up another muffin anyway. "I'm not going to waste away in a day you know!"

"So I don't trust you to actually eat when I'm not around." he says, huffily, "Can you blame me?"

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'd eat!" really, she would....remember...most the time..."What do you think I do when you're not here huh?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Starve until you nearly drop and then grab whatever is closest." he says promptly.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Only if I'm busy!" she snapped half-heartedly as she swatted at him "You make it sound like I'm going to manage to kill myself any minute now!"

[sliceitwithwind]

He's silent for a second, then admits, "I worry, Aya. You've always been mine, like I've always been Braig's. And you know how he freaks out if I'm gone for more than a while. The three of us are a bundle of neurosis all wrapped up in caring for each other."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'm doing okay you know." she sighed, giving up and leaning back against him as she nibbled her way through another muffin. "Okayish" given the day and the events planned.

"You know...there's a reason I'm living out here instead of with you guys right? So we can learn about not always being in each others pockets? I talked it over with Aunt Elcy, she thought it was a good idea."

"I know, I know. I don't have to like it." he's the most neurotic of the three of them, he knows it, he tries to give them both their space...

but it's hard not to know where they are, and be sure they're okay, and in general let them live their own lives.

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'm trying to better so you don't worry so much..." but she was only sixteen, and that meant that what she thought would help didn't always...and she lost her temper sometimes. "I love you, you know. You're never going to get rid of me, just don't...worry so much." because one of these days he was going to make himself sick.

"That said...thanks a lot for coming. I'd hug you but my hands are still drippy."

"I know. I love you too...but I am what I am, and worrying about you is normal."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yeah, yeah, it's just...I don't want to end up being the reason you have a heart attack." she really, really worried about that. A lot. "That should be your kids job, or grandkids or something."

[sliceitwithwind]

"I'm not going to have a heart attack." he promises, softly, "Or even an ulcer."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Prove it" she stuck her tongue out at him and finally gave him a really tight hug "You worry me."

[sliceitwithwind]

"You worry me too." he says, smiling, "But I can prove it...my species doesn't do either of those."

[mitochondriaaya]

"But you're an overachiever." she countered easily "You could be the first."

[sliceitwithwind]

He ruffles her hair, "I'm a mutant." he points out, smiling a little, "Anyway. You're the one who moved away, monkey. I'm coping the best I can."

[mitochondriaaya]

"With super powers." she agreed, then "No, you guys moved away first." they moved away and she got to find out what it was like to be in school without them.

[sliceitwithwind]

"Only because we had to." Seriously. He was all for taking time off and waiting for her, but the scholarships wouldn't wait.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Was still you guys first." she pointed out stubbornly. "So not my fault. And we're not that far away at all." forty minutes by taxi, longer by bus...not that far at all. "Little flowers or clouds?"

"Flowers." he says, "You don't want to give any air-head signs."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Skirt's longer on that one too..." she mused, half-breaking the hug so she could peer down the hallway. "I should get dressed. I'm not allowed to go to court in PJ's."

[sliceitwithwind]

"No, you're not. Get dressed, Aya. I will, too." In more than his hakama and tank-top.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Okaaaay." she sighed and kicked her feet going down the hall, but she went. The dress she came out in was blue that shaded to midnight at the bottom with little roses, also shading, scattered along it. It was a very pretty dress...

...and she knew it made her look twelve. That was why she tended to hate it. Deeply. It went against her nature to try to look childish. "I HATE THIS!" she yelled down the hallway, just to lodge the complaint.

"I DON'T CARE!" he yells back, just as maturely. Dilan staggers down to her room after a bit, "Do my tie." he still can't manage on his own.
