Oh those lovely lawsuits

Aya reached out to slap her alarm clock and pulled the covers over her head. She really didn't want to get out of bed today. The very idea of going into the courtroom scared her. Yes, she'd have to get over that eventually, but suing...suing just gave her the creeps. It felt like things were out of hand. Out of control.

She hated that feeling.

That meant she wanted to stay in bed. Sadly, she could smell coffee. And the snooze button wasn't where it was suppose to be...in fact, her alarm wasn't where it was suppose to be. "The hell?" she muttered from within the blankets.

"Something gooey and bad for you." Aya agreed "Make sure to grab some popcorn, I'm out." the last movie night had left her dry.

"We really want to trust him after the last time he grabbed a batch?"

"Will do, sweetheart." he said in return, heading into the store.

Dilan shrugged and said, "Worst that happens is we send him out again until he brings things back we enjoy. It can be a game."

"You're right. It'll be like the 'send Braig for groceries' game." she chuckled and held the door into the creamery for Dilan.

"Yup. It's always been a way to kill a day." Dilan said, slipping into the creamery and frowning slightly. "Biggest bucket, one scoop of everything."

That'll do for Braig.

Aya elbowed Dilan and added "One bottle of fudge sauce" to the Braig order. She'd promised gooey. "We should send him for groceries again, maybe tomorrow. Three scoops of cookie dough on a brownie with fudge for me."

"And a bowl of fruits. No sugar, no sugary-syrup, no canned. Just the ones you've got fresh or frozen for me." Dilan agrees.

Aya and Dilan's treats, tucked into boxes, looked rather small in comparison to the bucket placed on the counter when they rang up. "How?" she marveled as everything got tucked in a bag "How does he eat more more junk food than either of us and not lose his teeth?"

"Obsessive dental hygiene." Dilan says with a smile, pulling his wallet out, "And great genes."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Green toothbrushes" she sighed. Braig and his toothbrushes but..."He doesn't go to the dentist really." and it really just occurred to her! She could agree with the genes though...

She grabbed the bucket, because it'd be coldest, and headed back towards the door. "Bets on whether he's done yet?"

"Yeah he does. He just doesn't like to admit he's going to the dentist so he disguises it by 'just going with Dilan' and I go regularly." He won't say anything about Braig's green toothbrush habit. It's because Dilan buys Braig green toothbrushes.

"He's not. You can bet he's not."

"...that's dumb." she sighed "He could tell me." Aya went religiously too, every three months like clockwork. Greeeeeeen toothbrushes. She'd even stocked her bathroom with green for Braig.

"True. Bets on whether he's out before his ice cream melts or should I go back in and stick it in their cooler?" she asked with a grin.

"He could, but then you wouldn't have a chance to bitch and moan." Dilan points out. He heads in every three months...just to keep 'em white and sharp. He likes them sharp.

"I figured we'd go back to the car and wait in the cool with it under the AC."

"I'd rather know he's taking care of himself." she pointed out. Really, compared to the release of bitching and moaning, well...

"Or we could do that." she agreed easily "If you want to be logical about it." and have a horn handy.

"Not my call." Dilan says, kissing her head and going back to the car.

[mitochondriaaya]

"I know, I know." she slid into the car and leaned into the front seats to try to get the AC on "Ummm, no keys Dilan. do we get the deposit back if you hotwire it?" because she had absolute faith he could figure it out!

"Spare key." Dilan says, digging into a pocket, "Braig always has me carry one. Here."








"Also I'm not going to admit to the criminal justice student that I could potentially do something like hot wire a car."

"In the name of ice cream I'd let it slide." Aya shrugged and got the car started before holding a hand back for the packages. The AC was better in the front seat floorboards. "Once. Besides, a car like this is just a computer with a motor attachment, I assume you can hotwire as a matter of course."

"I'll remember that." he says, pressing his hand against her cheek and then passing the packages up to her.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Which part?" she asked wryly after leaning into his hand a moment "Forgiveness or my assumptions you can hotwire?" because some things stuck in memory better! For her next trick she was going to see how far back the seats in the rental went!

"I think I'll let you wonder." Dilan says, grinning and ruffling her hair.

[mitochondriaaya]

"I get myself in trouble if I wonder too much!" she pouted "Or I get you guys in trouble!" they had ample evidence of this!

"Pshaw, monkey, you get us in trouble either way."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Gee, thanks." she reached back blindly to poke him "Glad to know I serve a purpose."

"You are my Aya and I love you." Dilan says simply.

Argue with that. He dares you.

"Despite it all." she added in a wounded, aggrieved tone.
