Marathon!

Aya had trained faithfully, just like she promised (and despite her period starting a few months after that promise. Really? She didn't need that!). The weights had been added by about the second month of training and she was really, really proud of her stamina!

And the marathon they'd chosen as their first was coming up this weekend, with fund raising as done by Elcy...and yeah. "Don't tell me you have to cancel!" she said into the phone, pulling one foot up to stretch out her thighs. "Don't! I can't go and do this alone!"

She put her feet back in his lap as a matter of course and grinned. "It'll be something to talk about late at night? You know the elders like to tell stories! So after we run ourselves ragged training we can have supper and stories!"

"Sounds good to me." Dilan agreed, rubbing her feet.

[mitochondriaaya]

Ooooo footrubs. Aya was going to kind of slump sideways instead of writing more okay? Yep. Totally the plan! "I like plans. Heyyyyy my feet were hurting. How'd you guess?"

"Because you ran a marathon yesterday." Dilan said, with a certain amount of duh in his voice. "Keep writing, though, of I'm gonna stop."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Oh, right." She grinned and sat back up slowly. He was mean, threatening to stop! "I'll do your feet when we're watching movies!"

"Okay!" Dilan liked that idea. He was happy to keep rubbing, although when Braig staggered down he stopped long enough to feed and coffee the elder.

"Deal!" Aya laughed and finished a paragraph. When Braig came down she leaned sideways in the other direction to hug him. "Good....afternoon! It is afternoon. Sleep well?"

"Yeah, I did." Braig admitted, "I meant to be up earlier, though." He really had planned to help look for things. "How's it going?"

"Thanks for not," Aya grinned. "I didn't up too long ago and if you'd been up before me the bed would have gotten cold!" Because she, herself, totally didn't generate heat on her own. Nope.

Braig snorted a little, and dug into his food. "Thanks, dude. It's good."

Dilan smiled, then went back to foot rubs.

When Dilan went back to footrubbing she sat up properly again and returned to her essay. "Dilan says he found stuff from when you were a baby!"

"Did he?" Braig asked, "Cool. Guess I know what we'll be doing the rest of the day."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yep! But we should poke around in the attic anyway? Later. When we feel like moving and stuff." Because maybe he missed some videos! Or maybe there were old tophats or something up there!

"Sure, we could do that." Braig agreed, smiling at her.

Dilan nodded, "It's kinda cramped for me, though. I don't think I'd fit if all three of us were up there."

[mitochondriaaya]

"We coudl crawl around up there and find some really old boxes and trunks to pass down?" Aya offered. "Then open everything down here and see what we've got?"

"Sure!" Dilan agreed, happily.

"I'm pretty sure that dad's got some of gran'ma's old trunks up there." Braig said, "Like letters and stuff that gran'ma and gran'pa didn't want to store any more, but are part of family history."

"It'll be fun! We haven't gotten into anything up there that is that old!" And when she felt like she could handle the ladder to the attic and they were getting restless they'd do that! "Did your grandma and grandpa love each other as much as your mom and dad?"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Yeah." Braig said, smiling a little, "They were arranged, you know? But gran'pa and gran'ma wrote letters to each other every day...I don't think we have all of them? But it's enough to know they loved each other." He laughed, "Although some of them are things like, Joshan, if you leave your boots in the hall one more time I shall hit you with a broom. Love, Errilea."

"It's still nice!" Aya grinned, "My parents never talked to my grandma? She sent a letter once, to dad, after the funeral. It wasn't nice." At all.

She finished another paragraph and chuckled. "Love letters would be nice but I want to find a top hat!"

"We might!" Dilan said, then admitted, "But it might be out at the mansion instead."

"Yeah." Braig agreed, "We'll have to go there soon and poke around."

[mitochondriaaya]

Ohhhhhh..."The attics there are more than big enough for all of us!" Hence the plural. Attics. Kinda rolled off the tongue didn't it?

"Are there any more muffins?"

"Yeah, they are." Dilan agreed, "And yeah. Grab one for her, Braig?"

Braig stood and grabbed a muffin, then tossed it to Aya before sitting back down.

"My essay is muffin powered!" Aya laughed. "And a map might not be a bad idea if we tackle the mansion attics? And a picnic lunch." And dust masks.

They wouldn't need dust masks. Dilan would clean. He wouldn't be able to help it.

"I don't think there is a map, you'll have to make it." Braig mused.

[mitochondriaaya]

Yes, but if he was cleaning while they explored they'd need masks! And if he went up ahead of them to clean it'd spoil the fun! "Ohhh, we can be an exploratory team! Think we can get there for a few days between 4th of July and leaving for the Southern Continent?"
