Marathon!

Aya had trained faithfully, just like she promised (and despite her period starting a few months after that promise. Really? She didn't need that!). The weights had been added by about the second month of training and she was really, really proud of her stamina!

And the marathon they'd chosen as their first was coming up this weekend, with fund raising as done by Elcy...and yeah. "Don't tell me you have to cancel!" she said into the phone, pulling one foot up to stretch out her thighs. "Don't! I can't go and do this alone!"

"We will." Braig said, "Promise. And I never break a promise."

"Good, because I'd have to find someone to drive me to find you guys and then they'd get annoyed..." Aya chuckled and started in on the unidentifiable fried bits. It was always fun figuring those out! "Green bean. Anyway, if all three of us were off no one would think to set up the fireworks!"

"Yeah. You're gonna have to take charge." Dilan agreed, chomping on his own unidentified thingy.

Braig nodded, "You can do it, though."

"Just of the fireworks," Aya shook a finger at them. "Everyone else can do what they always do." They were all older than her after all!

"Okay, and food. We always work with the food too."

"You can do it." Braig said again, "We'll be there as early as we can be...I plan on leaving after a nap."

"We can all do it." Aya snorted gently and passed Braig his very own unknown crunchy! "And sleep more if you gotta!"

"Will do." Braig promised, accepting the crunchy and biting down. Sweet potato. Not his favourite, but he'd finish it.

"Good, I worry about your health!" And him not sleeping enough! "Though I guess I could try to talk Dilan into sitting on you if you haven't slept enough?" She could?

Maybe?

Or bribe him with a chicken tender!

"Braig's lazy." Dilan pointed out, "He'll sleep enough. It's getting him up that's the hard part."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Nah, he's always spot-on when he decides to be somewhere and he promised!" Aya laughed. "Even if it means skimping on stuff!"

"I'll make sure he sleeps." Dilan promised.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Thank you," Aya grinned at Dilan happily, truly grateful. "You're better at sitting on him than I am!" Being, well, there and all.

"Oh, hey, I got train tickets for week after next! I can be up to see you guys a few days after my birthday!"

"Yeah, but I might crush him now." Dilan pointed out.

"Awesome! Anything in particular you want to do?"

[mitochondriaaya]

"Eh, 'might' isn't 'certainly will'!" Aya laughed. "And...no? What's there to do in your town?"

"Well, it's a bigger city." Braig said, "There are some all-ages clubs, if you want to go dancing. More choice on films."

"Zoo, parks."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I can only stay for the weekend?" she offered. "Zoo and dancing? And movies and chores before I go?" Because that was just what she did when staying over?

"Sounds good." Braig said, "You'll have a blast."

"We all will!" Dilan agreed, "And we can show you campus."

"I like dancing!" She wasn't the best at it, and she'd have a big stamp on her hand that said 14, but hey! "And zoos. And is your campus huge? Will I need a map?"

"Nah. You'll be coming to our flat, first." Dilan pointed out, "And we'll be your guides for the rest of it."

"No getting lost for you."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Monkey leash?" she teased softly. "I won't wander but we can get separated sometimes. I had to ask!" Her reliable plan B was to find a high spot and wait for them to find her really!

"I know where that is." Braig said cheerfully.

Dilan eyed Braig and said, "I think we're past that, thank you."

"If it would make you happy I'll wear it," Aya shrugged. Her dignity did not rely on never being seen in a monkey backpack! "But not when we're dancing? Pleeeeeease?"

"Nah. I think we're good...I'd get a very different rep than I want if I led a fourteen year old around on a leash."

[mitochondriaaya]

"That's fair," Aya grinned. Yeah, she hadn't actually thought he'd pull the leash out again after all these years? She'd have stuck by her promise if he did though! "It'll be a lot easier to pretend to be a bit more grownup without it."

"You'll do fine." Braig promised, "As long as you remember that if someone ogles you, you're to call them a pervert and point me at them."
