Marathon!

Aya had trained faithfully, just like she promised (and despite her period starting a few months after that promise. Really? She didn't need that!). The weights had been added by about the second month of training and she was really, really proud of her stamina!

And the marathon they'd chosen as their first was coming up this weekend, with fund raising as done by Elcy...and yeah. "Don't tell me you have to cancel!" she said into the phone, pulling one foot up to stretch out her thighs. "Don't! I can't go and do this alone!"

Braig passed her the water and pills, then got everything else put away, his clothing and hers, and into sweatpants before crawling in and tugging her into a hug. Dilan crawled in after that and spooned the two of them, pulling the blankets over them and sighing with relief.

Aya was almost asleep by the time Braig was done tucking things away, but snuggled close in the hug when he was ready for bed. "G'night you guys. Love you." GOING TO PASS OUT NOW YES.

Oh elements she was so tired.

By the time she got up in the morning Dilan had managed to get breakfast made (and in the oven to stay warm) and a box of videos in the livingroom next to the TV.

Yeah, where 'getting up' meant 'had to wake up to eat but really not aware'. Her stomach could be a demanding thing! She scooted down the stairs on her but rather than trying to walk on legs that were still jelly-like and blinked owlishly at Dilan. "You found stuff?" Stuff.

Yeah.

"Kid things."

"Yeah, I did." Dilan said, hefting her to get her from the stairs to the kitchen, "Here...you want sausage, bacon, or both?" And a muffin, and fruit, and pancakes...

"Both!" She was really, really grateful for the lift. She'd stretched her legs some before even trying to get out of bed but ouch. "How are you this morning? And I need the green bottle of vitamins..."

"I'm doing fine...I got six hours!" Almost a night and a half of sleep! Dilan passed the bottle over, then dished up for her, piles and piles of food. "Milk or juice? Or tea? Or you can have half a cup of coffee, dad says."

"Milk and juice!" Hmmm, maybe coffee often that? If she still felt so bogged down? "And I didn't notice you get out of bed?! Wow...musta been really out. So what did you find? Are they labeled?"

Dilan poured both for her, and then dished himself up some more sausage because, hey, eating together was nice. And a cup of coffee, not like it'd stunt his growth any. "I found a bunch! And, yeah, they're all labelled. From when Braig was a baby up until I was five."

She propped her feet in Dilan's lap when he sat and grinned. "Hey, that's awesome! We should start them in order then! Wonder what Braig did when he was a baby!"

"I dunno." Dilan said, also grinning, "We should wait for him to get up, though. It'll be more fun that way."

"Yeah, okay!" They could wait indeed! "I have to do my weekend homework so he has some time before I go flop on him?" Normally she'd jump but...

"Sorry I don't have any tapes for you guys."

"It's okay, monkey." Dilan said, kissing her hair, "You've got photo albums." Insane numbers of them. "We've got good imaginations."

She didn't like looking at her photo albums! It reminded her of Maya and her mother! Still, yeah, the boys were welcome to those! "Yeah, but it's not the same as watching people move." It just wasn't!

"Anyway. I have to write an essay on how the opium wars effected world economies..." Yay history class? "I'm mostly done though."

Which is why they didn't look through them often. They didn't want to hurt her.

"I know." Dilan leaned over and kissed her hair. "If you want any help let me know? Otherwise I'm just gonna do mom and dad's laundry."

It did hurt less over the years?

"You can read it over for grammar and punctuation? I don't think I'm suppose to get factual help from other people unless I'm actually interviewing them or something." And he wasn't a historian or that old anyway!

And when it didn't hurt more than it did, they'd look at them together.

"Okay! Just give me a call when you want me." He stood up to put his dishes in the sink and rinse them, Braig would do the dishes later.

She still felt bad wanting to see bitty!boys and not sharing in kind! Granted, she was still pretty bitty herself...

"Always! I swear, if we get one of those frequent caller plans where two people are free to dial..." the phone company would be so screwed! Sure, she talked to her friends too, but not that much on the phone! "Can you grab my bookbag? It's by the door."

"Yeah, no problem." Dilan swung her bag into the kitchen, then headed off to do laundry, humming. Badly.

"Thanks!" She was being lazy today and she knew it but! Yes, time to pull a notebook out and alternate lines of essay with more bites of food! "Dilannnnn! What's the territory furthest north? I know everyone moves around a lot but this text mentions some routes ran through the top of the katzu areas so I want to know who it impacted!"

"Alnat and Wapshut!" Dilan called back, "Although Falna can get up there too, some years."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'll note that!" Aya called back cheerfully. "Do you think they'd have had much to do with the opium caravans or no?"

"Nope! It doesn't do anything for us!" Dilan informed her.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yeah, but trade!" Aya laughed. "It'll be something to ask the elders about this summer!" Because even if opium didn't help katzu, if they knew the other species wanted it..."The wars were allllll about trade."

"Huh, that's true." Dilan said, wandering back in to sit at the table with her, "I don't know."
