Marathon!

Aya had trained faithfully, just like she promised (and despite her period starting a few months after that promise. Really? She didn't need that!). The weights had been added by about the second month of training and she was really, really proud of her stamina!

And the marathon they'd chosen as their first was coming up this weekend, with fund raising as done by Elcy...and yeah. "Don't tell me you have to cancel!" she said into the phone, pulling one foot up to stretch out her thighs. "Don't! I can't go and do this alone!"

"Well, when we go down to the Katzu territories we're going to be training in the heat there. Aya's been using leg weights, I'm gonna start doing the same thing." Dilan recited, "I'm doing daily runs, Braig is too but he's kinda slow and doesn't plan on doing marathons."

"Ah, yes, heat training will be rather taxing." As far as she knew. "And if Braig does decide to run please tell me so I can adjust accordingly." Thinking, thinking...

"If you write me weekly letters as you train this summer I will double my donation for you both."

"He's too lazy." Dilan said, grinning, "He doesn't mind morning runs, but has no intention of doing a marathon."

Blink.

"Okay."

The widow miiiight be a little lonely and didn't mind investing at all for penpals! "I much prefer to donate when the people are truly dedicated to what they are doing," she explained. "I'll send my address for the summer to Elcy."

"Okay! Mom'll give it to us." Dilan said, smiling at her, "We can send photos, too."

[mitochondriaaya]

"That would be lovely," she admitted happily. "I haven't been to the territories myself so they'd be nice to see." In photos. She enjoyed her air conditioning.

"If we do a territories photo album we can bring it over when we get back!" Aya also promised cheerfully.

"We can also send some pictures with the letters." Dilan agreed, happy to help her out. He'd try to get some of the other Dahnil kids to also write her.

The widow was going to end up fostering children and young adults who wanted to spend a year or two in America wasn't she? By the smile she was well pleased by their offers though! "Thank you children. Now go try to amuse yourselves. If you see Elcy please send her this way."

"Okay!" Dilan bent to press a kiss to her cheek before drifting to the dance floor with Aya.

Aya blew a kiss after standing and drifted beside Dilan happily. Moving well in a full kimono was a practiced art! And it involved a lot of gliding and drifting! "Do you see where Braig got off to? I lost him a while back!" She liked to check on the boys often in case they needed someone to step in!

Dilan craned his head around, "Yeah, he's over with some of dad's friends in the corner back there. Avoiding dancing." Braig was good, but didn't really enjoy it.

"Does he look plotty?" she asked, taking advantage of his height gleefully! "Or just trying the 'don't look at me' game?" One of those was a lot more worrisome than the other!

"Not right now. It's the don't look at me game." Dilan said, "I think he's trying to fade into the background, and it's not going well.

[mitochondriaaya]

"He doesn't fade well," she agreed, spinning with Dilan until she could catch a glimpse herself. "I can snag him in a little bit if it looks like someone's going to pry him off the wall?" And Dilan could get refreshments. She was not hesitant to be the demanding little sister if they needed her to be!

"Okay." Dilan said, "Although he abandoned me at the club last month, it could be time for payback."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Then abandon him at a club!" she snorted. "You guys are here now, on my watch, and we don't do that!" SO THERE!

"How can I abandon him at a club now?" Dilan asked, "I'm seven feet tall. Plus hair."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Dilan...you're katzu." Duh. "Plus girlfriends." Slinky plus distraction could work out quite well for abandoning someone in a loud, possibly dark place!

Dilan doubted her. "Fine, fine. We'll rescue him. You're too soft on him."

"Are you saying I spoil him?" Aya asked with a grin. "I spoil you both as far as I know! When I can! And I can go get him when he really, really needs it."

"Yeah, but I'm not as egotistical as Braig is." Dilan pointed out, "Sometimes he needs to be knocked down a peg or six."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I'd like it if you had more ego sometimes." Aya admitted. It'd be healthy for him right? "What would you suggest?"

"I know." It was quiet, "I try? And I dunno."

[mitochondriaaya]

"I know, I just worry. You're a great guy and everyone should know that!" THEY SHOULD! "And you don't know? How am I suppose to take him down a peg or six if we don't have a plan?!" Hmmph.

Hmmph hmmph.

"Could ditch him at a club and go see a movie with me when I'm in your town?"

"Maybe." Dilan sighed, "Chances are we're never going to manage to figure something out."
