Marathon!

Aya had trained faithfully, just like she promised (and despite her period starting a few months after that promise. Really? She didn't need that!). The weights had been added by about the second month of training and she was really, really proud of her stamina!

And the marathon they'd chosen as their first was coming up this weekend, with fund raising as done by Elcy...and yeah. "Don't tell me you have to cancel!" she said into the phone, pulling one foot up to stretch out her thighs. "Don't! I can't go and do this alone!"

"It's okay! It was a history report not a biology assignment!" So she understood Dilan not connecting the dots! Besides, she got to share facts with the boys!

"Uhm....are you suggesting freaking them out or never freaking them out?" Aya asked, not really following that. "What if our metabolisms change after we're all really done growing and stuff?"

"Freaking them out." Braig said, because he was a brat.

"Huh." Dilan thought about it, "I don't know. I have a pretty normal metabolism, and Braig's hasn't slowed down yet."

"You know what they'll think if we all don't eat much?" Did he? DID HE? "They'll think we hit someone or something and hid a body on the way home!" They totally would!

"And it could still happen. Some day." Maybe?

"...You're probably right." Braig admitted, "Ah, well, it was a good thought while it lasted."

"Doubt it, Braig's too good a driver. You've been watching too many bad teen horror films."

"They would assume a body would be involved somehow!" Aya snorted and leaned back so the server could put the appetizer trays down. "What else would put all three of us off food? Ebola?"

"Yeah, probably." Dilan agreed, reaching for appetizers as soon as the plate hit the table. Braig was right behind him. Mmmm food.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yeah probably to which part?!" Aya asked, snaking a handful or mozzarella sticks from between the starving boys. "Because if you have plans for ebola I want advanced warning!"

[sliceitwithwind]

"Both, really." Dilan said, grinning, "And I have no current plans for ebola research."

"So reassuring, dude."

"Good! We read The Hot Zone in science class and that is NOT a fun disease!" At all! But still. Hmmm. "If we stopped eating in shifts..." Because Braig thought it would be fun so she would continue to ponder it?

"Nah." Braig said, "They'd figure it out."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Yeah, and then we'd get grounded for even pretending to mess up our eating habits." She knew they would too! "Or as grounded as you guys can get at college."

"Yuuuuup." Braig drawled, snagging a fried pepper and chewing on it happily.

"They'd figure out a way. Probably no boxes of cookies."

[mitochondriaaya]

"No cookies, no preserves, no phonecalls..." And they'd all be properly miserable! "When do you guys get out for the summer? We're leaving for the territories July 6th..."

"July 3." Dilan said with a sigh, "So we'll be late on setting things up, sorry."

[mitochondriaaya]

"That's alright," Aya grinned. "You know we can set stuff up on our own! As long as you guys do show up!" It would be alright. Sort of.

[sliceitwithwind]

"We will." Braig said, "Promise. And I never break a promise."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Good, because I'd have to find someone to drive me to find you guys and then they'd get annoyed..." Aya chuckled and started in on the unidentifiable fried bits. It was always fun figuring those out! "Green bean. Anyway, if all three of us were off no one would think to set up the fireworks!"

"Yeah. You're gonna have to take charge." Dilan agreed, chomping on his own unidentified thingy.

Braig nodded, "You can do it, though."

[mitochondriaaya]

"Just of the fireworks," Aya shook a finger at them. "Everyone else can do what they always do." They were all older than her after all!

"Okay, and food. We always work with the food too."

"You can do it." Braig said again, "We'll be there as early as we can be...I plan on leaving after a nap."

[mitochondriaaya]

"We can all do it." Aya snorted gently and passed Braig his very own unknown crunchy! "And sleep more if you gotta!"

"Will do." Braig promised, accepting the crunchy and biting down. Sweet potato. Not his favourite, but he'd finish it.

[mitochondriaaya]

"Good, I worry about your health!" And him not sleeping enough! "Though I guess I could try to talk Dilan into sitting on you if you haven't slept enough?" She could?

Or bribe him with a chicken tender!

"Braig's lazy." Dilan pointed out, "He'll sleep enough. It's getting him up that's the hard part."

"Nah, he's always spot-on when he decides to be somewhere and he promised!" Aya laughed. "Even if it means skimping on stuff!"
