Marathon!

Aya had trained faithfully, just like she promised (and despite her period starting a few months after that promise. Really? She didn't need that!). The weights had been added by about the second month of training and she was really, really proud of her stamina!

And the marathon they'd chosen as their first was coming up this weekend, with fund raising as done by Elcy...and yeah. "Don't tell me you have to cancel!" she said into the phone, pulling one foot up to stretch out her thighs. "Don't! I can't go and do this alone!"

"Maaaaybe," she admitted after a moment. "I ran a marathon. And swam." One lap! "I need to learn how to use batteries or something..."

"You need to go stretch on the towels, sweetie." Dilan said, making shoo motions.

She stuck her tongue out at him and grumbled a bit but went to go do as he said because really, yeah, tired. And if she napped now she could stay up with the boys later! "Don't let me sleep too long?" She asked, laying out some of the towels in a shaded area behind a rock. By the angle of the sun, well, it wouldn't end up in sun before she woke up!

"I won't." Dilan promised, going to do another couple of laps.

Eventually he and Braig dragged themselves from the water and dried off, then Braig poked Aya, "Ready to go, monkey?"

In answer to that Aya rolled over and wrapped herself around the hand doing the poking. "Mrrrrrrgh." She didn't want to get up! She was comfy and it was warm out and...."YEEEEEEEP LEG CRAMP!"

"Oh, ick. Okay. Stay there." Braig dropped to the ground so that he could start gently massaging her leg, "Let me get that for you...just try to relax."

Flail flail flail POUND THE SAND WITH A HAND YES! Leg cramps sucked! And it was the twitchy, cascading kind of cramp that moved down her legs! Ack! "Teach me...to not stretch before a nap!" ACCCCCK!

"Killll meeee...."

Braig looked distressed at her distress, as did Dilan who knelt down for her to pound on.

"I'm working on it, I'm working on it..." Braig said, with worry.

Paaaaause....not in the teeth gritting, oh no, hard not to do that but..."Oh, well, can I vote for painless? Oh Stevenson if you're working on killing me...ack...!" And then, with the suddenness of these things, the cramp stopped and her leg twitched.

"...okay, stop working on killing me."

Braig stopped, and looked up at Dilan who nodded, "Hey, monkey, let me carry you back to the car? We can get you a hot bath at home."

"You're not cramping," Grumble! He ran too! Granted she was headed towards a growth spurt and was using vitamins and minerals in her body differently right now but grump! She held up her hands to be lifted anyway because that had honestly hurt.

A lot.

"You know, I just hate cramps. All cramps."

Dilan bent down to pick her up, and Braig gathered all of their stuff before hurrying to the car in order to open it for her.

"I know." Dilan said, "But I'm not you. You're human."

"And we have different resources," Aya sighed. Elcy miiiight have been telling her this recently. When they got to the car Aya wiggled carefully into the backseat and started doing slow stretches across the padded bench. "So batteries. And less cramps. Can you guys do that? I will volunteer!"

"Yup." Dilan thought about it, "I don't know. I'll see what I can come up with? It may just be down to old fashioned work, though."

"Only place I don't get cramps now is my arrrrrrms," Aya snorted. "It sucks. My legs don't cramp too much though, usually, so I guess it's not too bad." Still. She kinda wanted to be a boy the first time she'd got abdominal cramps. Elcy had been nice and not laughed when she whined that?

"Wait...does that mean I'm not working on my arms enough? Growing up sucks!"

"You might be getting growing pains." Dilan said, "I dunno how they work for humans or Olia."

"Cramping can be a sign of it." Braig said, "Just keep taking care of yourself as best you can."

"Elcy is making me go to the doctor and the nutritionist more," she admitted. "I'm not sick or anything but..." she was weird and it was best to be careful?

"You'll like this Dilan, I gotta eat more meat for a while!"

"Hey, cool! We can go off and eat meat at Braig."

Braig looked at the two of them before starting the car, "Keep it up and we won't stop for a celebratory dinner at Wagner's."

"Shutting up!"

"Well, mine has to be cooked and I still need to eat some veggies and grains, but yeah!" Aya laughed. "Current theory is that I ended up with a semi-katzu stomach or something after my mom's car accident! I don't remember because of a blinky memory eraser!" Her doctors were weird but fun?

"Ohhh, Wagners."

"It'll still be cool." Dilan said, "You can be my mini-Alnat!"

"I don't think there is such a thing as a mini-Alnat, dude."

"Do katzu have dwarfism?" Aya asked curiously. "I could pretend I'm a dwarf? Or I could find those ears from Halloween way back and dye my skin again, go as mini-Dahnil!"

"Yeah, but dwarf Katzu are, you know, like 5'5?" Dilan said, "A lot of them do move out of the Territories. Nah, the skin dye stained your hair for a long time."

"Dorks." It was loving, though.

"I could be 5'5''! Eventually! Some day!" Aya truly believed it was possible! "I could even be six foot maybe you never know!" Her dad was...not six foot but she was weird anyway so why not?

"Okay, Alnat. And we're good dorks."

"You're the best dorks." Braig agreed, "I grabbed extra clothing for you, so if you want to change you can. Both of you."

"Ooo, pass up hakama for me?" Dilan asked. Because changing clothing in a moving car wouldn't be at all distracting for the driver, no.

"You're a genius!" Aya laughed, leaning forward to kiss Braig's cheek. "Why didn't we think of that?!" And yes, passing clothing forward. Aya had it easy with a whole back seat to change in!

Gleh, ace bandage marks and salty clothing stiffness! Yeah, they should have remembered their own clothes! Or...mostly their own. Aya was totally wearing whatever shirt Braig had grabbed for her, her own or no!
